This is a live CD from summer 2010 of Neil Hannon's tour that year where he played solo, accompanying himself mostly on piano with some guitar. Although his band arrangements are fab, without them you really get to appreciate the cleverness of the words. His piano playing is pretty basic but his singing is superb. He sings many songs from the Bang goes the Knighthood release plus some classics and a couple of rarities. The intimacy and excitment of a live show comes across in his banter with the crowd. If you're new to Div Com, you might be better off buying the Best of and the Knighthood CDs. If you're a fan, you'll enjoy hearing a different take on his songs.

I was lucky enough to be there on that lovely summer evening in 2010, and it's great to have this 3CD set as a memento. While The Divine Comedy without an orchestra might be an odd concept, when you hear this it's clear that Neil Hannon's music and lyrics speak for themselves. As the previous reviewer says, it really allows the words, and Hannon's soaring vocals, to shine. Yeah he makes a few mistakes, but that just adds to the fun and the crowd lapped up his ad-libbing and banter. The atmosphere on the night was charming, and that largely comes across on the CD as well. For the price Amazon is charging, this is a bit of a bargain (it was £20 for those of us who bought it on the night!) and is a terrific record of Hannon's peerless songwriting.

A very initimate album where you feel part of the concert. Humorous comments and great songs make up for Neil not always being in perfect key.

Brilliant as ever. One of Britain's great song writers and performer's. Just Neil and his piano. That's all you need! Class 10/10!

I bought this recording at Somerset House on the night of the concert. At that point, the package consisted of three discs, the idea being that you could download the material for the third disc (containing the songs from the finale) yourself the next day and burn it to the third disc.

Great idea - except these download-only tracks weren't very well mastered and contained awkward gaps between songs. Result: the final disc with its stops and starts was a poor souvenir of what had been a great evening. I tried to raise this with Concert Live but they weren't particularly interested or bothered, One can only contact then via an online form on their website and they seem to excel in misunderstanding messages.

They did send me (finally) a replacement third disc, but this was even more disappointing as, although it played through smoothly, it now omitted the first song from the finale, replacing it simply with a fade in to the second song of the finale.

I did try to complain, but got nowhere. Concert Live told me that I was mistaken and that all the songs were there. Even when I pointed out that they had originally had the "missing" song as one of their downloads.

So, who knows what songs are actually on this 2CD version? There's no track-listing and, given my experiences above, it's possible that the concert is not here in its entirety...
