I have been a fan of Sodom for many years now & honestly I feel that since this lineup has been together the band continues to get better & better...but ironically when Sodom released their self-titled album a few years ago I started to wonder if the well had gone dry. There seems to be 2 scenarios when a band releases a self-titled album late into their career...1)They have run out of ideas so they throw together a so-so album & put the band's name on it~~OR 2)The band is creating one of their best, if not their best album & proudly self title it. Well as you know I felt it was the first scenario I mentioned! Anyway, here we are in 2010 & thankfully the well for Sodom is full again! 'In War & Pieces' sounds like the Sodom of old but has some surprises which you might not expect thrown in. The album is punishing from beginning to end, the production is EXCELLENT, & the surprising part I mentioned is that there are some melodic parts thrown in just enough & then the brutality continues! Also some of the band's best break downs (bridge parts..whatever you want to call it!) are in this album too! If anything, this should have been the self-titled album which reflected Sodom's good name!

PS: The bonus live CD is awesome! I like it much better than their 'Live in Bangkok' album..the production just sounds better!

At last more clear thrashing to my ears from this outstanding historical band. You like Metallica from Master of puppets and ...and justice for all. More brutal, better production. No light vocals. As always Motorhead like bass. Keep up the good work

This is criminal, 1 Fxxxxn review for the latest Sodom masterpiece, 30 years in existence, countless Thrash classics and yet little recognition on these hallowed reviews, Sodom are an unbelieveable band and yet have never been at the level Kreator and Destruction have got to, which is why i love them!!!, the frustration felt by the band makes for some brilliant musicianship and in War and Pieces they have released an amazing slab of pure honest Thrash, no frills - Sodom dont do frills, no flashy melody bits - Sodom dont have time for that either, what they do though is knock your brain senseless with brutally tight Thash, whats not to like about that, i cant think of anything, get more Sodom reviews on this Amazon place
