CD DVD Storage Tower - self assembly - antique pine
on 26 October 2013
It is almost impossible to find something suitable in the shops and I have now bought this item on two separate occasions I believe both times on Amazon. It does require some time and patience and care in assembly as I did cause a little damage to one in the assembly process. Also I found that the first time I put one together it was rather wobbly and I would recommend to buy a little more of the PVA glue and apply it not only on the wooden dowels but also around the entire hardboard back that slides in which then keeps the unit solid. Care to wipe any excess off and also to let it dry completely before use to avoid a CD case becoming a fixture. Also care to make sure the dowels are gently hammered in to the required depth as once you put this together with all the glue you are somewhat committed to what you have created. The shelves can be set for different sizes hence CD size or DVD size. Two dowels are also used to retain each of the drawers and it is advisable to locate these before assembling the sides and top and base after which it is more difficult to swing a hammer at them. I have about 16 CD cases on each shelf which is as many as you can reasonably squeeze in. The shelves fit onto metal pins you insert in the sides (from the inside) which are housed in little indentations so you can not see them and they also prevent the shelves from sliding out when you pull out a CD. The finish is a plastic wood effect veneer but is a good finish and a pleasing appearance given this is not a £150 piece of natural wooden furniture. The metal handles for the drawers are nice touches and look very neat and are very functional. I have had mine for some time now and am very satisfied with them.
