A friend recommend this workout and I decided I gave it a try.My sister's wedding is in 3 weeks and 4 weeks ago I was desperate.I bought this lovely dress that I had my eyes set on but I could only get it on a size smaller than mine. I started a diet, I have tried other workouts DVDs(Billy Blanks and Davina) which are great. But Jillian's workouts are the best for me. The are usually 20 minutes long (except this one which is around 40 minutes).And guess what,I can feel the fat burning from day one!! The movements are not crazy in speed but very intense, many parts of your body will work at the same time with intensity.She is very thorough.And this is the most important part, her personality. Jillian is a great motivator, I think this is what keeps me coming back to her.Sometimes I don't feel like working out and I simply play the DVD and I cannot help but getting myself ready and do it. She also explains very well why she is doing that movement and what part of your body is going to benefit from it.I know some people don't like chatty instructors but I don't think her speech is empty.She helps you to achieve your target with very helpful advises When I feel too tired almost at the end of the workout she will shouts "Don't you dare to quit on me!!!" And guess what?, I don't and that is why I can zip up that bloody dress after only a few weeks!!! Good luck to you too!

I'm a very big fan of the Jillian Michaels DVD workout routines.
During the first quarter of this year, I made very regular use of her highly energetic 30 Day Shred DVD, and shed close to 3 stones in weight, dropping from near 15 stones to dead on 12 stones. Once I'd reached my target weight, I had no desire to lose the benefits of all my efforts over approximately 3 months, and so I started using her superb Yoga Meltdown DVD. I've been using that DVD for the last 3 months, and although it's less energetic than 30 Day Shred, it's still great for all-round body toning and general fitness. In particular, the Yoga Meltdown DVD has helped me to strengthen my back muscles, and consequently left me symptom free from my sciatica.
I've started using this Banish Fat DVD in the last fortnight, to shape up for a forthcoming beach holiday with my daughter in Fuenteventura. The DVD starts with a very sensible 5 minute warm up routine, involving arm circles, toe touches, arm wraps and gentle jogging on the spot. The warm up gets the heart rate up and the body heated up. Jillian then moves on to her seven different 6 minute workout routines:-

Routine 1 - this one is very much kick boxing orientated - arm punches, side kicks, jabs, cross punches and hook punches, front kicks and squatting side kicks (which will definitely get your thigh muscles burning!) - this routine is repeated a second time;
Routine 2 - burpees (quite challenging), air hops, jabs, cross punches and hops, 180 degree jumps and single leg hopping - this routine is performed twice;
Routine 3 - butt kicks, running on the spot and jumping jacks, - as before the routine gets performed twice;
Routine 4 - this routine is floor based, and includes mountain climbers (quite hard work), plank position leg raises, pipe crunches (fabulous for toning the tummy), oblique twists and walking planks (a modified version of a press up) - as always the routine is repeated a second time;
Routine 5 - this routine is kick-boxing orientated, with circular kicks, upper cut punches, back kicks, jabs, cross punches and knee crunches - once again, the routine is completed twice;
Routine 6 - jump squats, scissor kicks, skaters, mountain climbers (jogging on the spot with simultaneous vertical arm pumps - tiring!), cross country running on the spot, standing pikes, knee crunches and twisted obliques - as previously, the routine is performed twice; and
Routine 7 - mobiles, standing abs, knee crunches and jump rope - as previously, the routine is followed twice.

Jillian winds things up with a sensible warm down, involving gentle stretching (and controlled breathing) of the neck, arms and legs. If you can't run about a mile non-stop, you'd probably be better off starting with Jillian's Yoga Meltdown DVD and/or her Beginner Shred DVD. If you can run a mile or two non-stop, you'd probably be fine doing two or three of the 6 minute workouts consecutively. If you can run more than two miles non-stop, you could probably do the whole of this 40 minute exercise routine non-stop.
I find that following this DVD for 20 to 30 minutes, at least 3 times a week, is enough for me to maintain good body tone and decent blood pressure readings. If you're out of shape and/or new to physical exercise, and especially if you have any medical condition affecting the heart, back, knees and shoulders, etc., it would be prudent to consult with a fully qualified fitness instructor and your doctor before starting on any exercise plan. As somebody who suffers from high blood pressure, diabetes and sciatica, I consulted both with my G.P. and a physical trainer before I embarked on any home keep fitness plan.
In any case, I wish you the very best of luck with whatever keepfit DVD you choose.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this review.

i purchased this dvd after reading the reviews and thought if it works all these other people it will work for me! i had previousally bought davina's dvd collection after being recommended but i found it wasnt challenging and motivating enough for me - ive done jillians dvd for a few days now and its great it pushes you to the next level and you feel the burning and plenty of sweating which obviousally means its working - am looking forward to doing it more and jillians other dvd's.

Good Luck everyone :) x

Started with her 30 day shred and recently bought this. Now i am alternating between the two. Results can be felt immediately. Its a very hard one to do but the few parts i couldnt do, i just added more punches or sit ups etc. and then joined in again where i could.

I definitely recommend this.

I was inspired to buy this DVD after watching Jillian at work on The Biggest Loser USA.
She is a brilliant trainer, tough but fair & her DVD is no different!
The workout is really tough, but it works!
I've lost 16lbs in 4 weeks!!!!

SERIOUSLY RECOMMENDED!!

If you are familiar with Jillian Michaels you will know she has no time for people who aren't willing to make effort. You will hear her say things such as "don't phone this one in" and "if you want it you have to work for it".

This exercise video is tough as your body is constantly moving, the only recovery periods you going to get are "active recovery periods" where you are doing exercise that allows you to catch your breath but you are still moving. Jillian says it herself "I don't believe in wasting time in life, I certainly don't believe in wasting time during workouts"

The first time I attempted this DVD (Last year)I did the warm up and 2 circuits and gave up because I thought i couldn't do anymore and never bothered using it again. I am overweight and unfit but I have decided I need to be heathy and I am determined. For the past two days I have completed the workout in it's entirety. The only difference between now and the last time I tried is determination. Completing this workout is a complete mood booster, leaves you feeling proud and you ache all over. As Jillian says "you don't know what your body is capable of until you try".

All those leaving negative reviews saying "it's too hard" are probably people like I was last year - quitters. It's easy to say this is hard I can't do it.
Anyone saying this was an "easy workout" are either as fit as Jillian Michaels (who admits to finding her own moves hard) or aren't putting the effort into their work out.
You only get out what you put in!

This is the second Jillian Michaels dvd I have purchased and it is just as good as the first, the 30 day shred. The moves are easy to understand but that doesnt mean they are easy! This workout is longer than the 30 day shred and has an element of kick boxing in it which is hard work but fun. As with all Jillian Michaels dvds you get a brillian workout and know that you have been working out! I would fully recommend to people looking for a good all round no messing about workout.

I am 24, approx a size 10 but I am a not a natural exerciser. There are very few sports I enjoy or have the motivation to do and I can't afford going to the gym. Although I wasn't hoping for serious weight loss, I definitely needed to tone up and look more streamlined.

I started on Jillian Michaels' 30 DAY SHRED. Although I didn't lose 20 pounds (as advertised), I lost several inches and noticed a big difference over the 30 days. In order to sustain and challenge my level of fitness after the 30 days, I bought myself BANISH FAT, BOOST METABOLISM dvd. One of the great things about this dvd is that you don't need anything more than space to do it. Each circuit is varied and works a different part of the body. I only manage to do it about 3 times a week as it is seriously intense but I do give it my all. My level of fitness has significantly improved and I can see my body changing. My boyfriend noticed it too which is a big bonus!

I'm a massive fan of Jillian, I love all her other dvd's but I really don't enjoy this one.
It's pure cardio, no equipment needed. It consists of 5 mins warmup then 7 x 6 min sessions of cardio 'drills'.
6 moves run through for 30 seconds each, then repeated.

The first session is kickboxing, jabs, side kicks etc, which is nice!
Then plyometrics, lots of jumping, burpees, 180 jumps etc. Not too bad but we're only at the 2nd circuit...
No 3 is callesthenics, jumping jacks, standing oblique crunches etc.
4 is on the floor, mountain climbers, lots of plank moves, engaging your core.
5 is a welcome return to kickboxing, swing kicks, back kicks etc.
6 is plyometrics (again, argh!), jump squats, cross country skiing & scissor kicks etc.
Then 7 finishes you off with standing pikes, knee crunches etc.
Then a 5 minute cool down.

Honestly, when I do this dvd I think I'm going to die, or faint, or throw up, or all 3 and I'd class my fitness as Intermediate, I've done the 30 day shred programme & found that hard but weirdly enjoyable, done some P90X, The Firm, Davina etc etc.
It's very challenging and if you are already fit you may like this but I just dread it and it doesn't get used anymore, I really hate the plyometrics. I have a Ki Fit calorie monitor & burn 400 cals doing this workout, but when I can dance on the wii for an hour & burn the same amount less painfully, I know which one I choose! As for losing 5 lbs a week like it says on the cover, I would take that with a pinch of salt. If you do this 3 x a week with a toning/weight routine & a diet then you'll see results, but isn't that always the case?
