Refreshing, but could be better
on 18 May 2011
First of all, I love what this game sets out to do. It's got an interactive movie feel to it, and you do invest a lot of interest and feeling into the characters and the storyline. You genuinely feel it when a character's story suddenly changes. When I played it, one of the characters died, and I was genuinely gutted! You desperately want to keep going with the game to see where it goes next.
However. The control system is annoying at times. The sudden 'Simon Says' commands that flash onto the screen in a panicky situation can be fiddly and unresponsive, and you end up getting really annoyed that a character has suffered as a result. Also having to press R2 and the analogue stick to move is very annoying at times, sending your character where you don't want them to go. I also don't buy the argument for playing the game over and over to see all the different endings. I loved watching the story unravel, and seeing the twists and turns in the plot, but when you know who is responsible for the crime, why go back again and again? This game is commendable for what it has set out to do, and I would happily recommend it to people to try something different, but I hope that at some point a sequel or other story arrives that irons out the creases in the control system.
