Ivan Fischer's Budapest Festival Orchestra have produced onr of thr best and most sensitive interpretaion of Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 7 I have ever heard recently, which motivated me to purchase the CD from my trusted supplier Amazon.ca.uk.
Whether the proximity between Hungary and Czechoslovakia, Fischer's deep understanding of Dvorak's psyche, or whether it is Fischer's talent (or all of the above) that have a bearing on Fischer's interpretation, is difficult to decide. Let it be said that the recording brought me deep enjoyment. I felt a touch of sadness in the recording, characteristic for a sensitive person who had left his/her homeland and tries to acclimatize to a strange and foreign environment, yet being unable to do so.
