As an introduction to a composer who was new to me (part of a project to investigate Scandinavian composers other than Sibelius, Nielsen and Grieg), I downloaded the work 'A Tapestry of Life' from this album. At first I was unimpressed, but after several listenings I am now beginning to appreciate and even enjoy this piece. This music is not easy to get into and initially I found it difficult to concentrate on, as there appeared to be no clear melodies and the music did not proceed as one would expect. But I now realise this is one of the reasons the piece is beginning to appeal - it has a sinister and unsettling feel that increases as the piece unfolds. I will certainly investigate more from this Scandinavian octogenarian composer.
