Tasty, Healthy and Good Value
on 25 August 2014
Reason for buying:
I decided to buy this product because I wanted a healthy form of a plant protein powder that had no dairy or toxins in it (artificial chemicals, colourings, preservatives & additives etc).
Mixing / Taste:
When I filled up 1/3 of the pint glass with water and added 30g of protein to it (2 tablespoons) I mixed it slowly with a large spoon and found that it mixed quite well. It had a very unique taste in that it tasted like cold creamy pea soup. It actually tasted much nicer than I expected = 9.5/10 for taste.
After taking the product once a day until the bag finished I felt a lot healthier, I lost weight and found that my stomach bloating problem had improved. Strangely enough though after drinking it I felt that I had eaten something that my body really wanted and hadn't had before.
Value / Comparison vs other Pea products:
At £13.45/Kg with free postage, this product offers very good value for money considering it's healthy ingredients and health benefits.
There are also a number of other Pea protein powders available on Amazon which I have tried, however in my experience they are either made of less desirable ingredients such as "Bulk Powders 1kg Pea Protein" for £7.20/Kg or they are far too expensive such as the "Sunwarrior Blend Raw Plant-Based Complete Protein Vanilla Powder 1Kg" for £31.98/Kg (although the Sunwarrior brand is the highest quality that money can buy and is likely to be far more beneficial health-wise, however it falls outside most peoples budgets (such as myself).
The only downside with this product is that it is not a complete protein source (does not contain the correct amino acid profile in the correct proportions). Pulsins Rice protein also has the same problem, however if both are taken together (15g of Rice Powder + 15g of Pea powder) they complement each other and are a complete protein source in the correct amino acid proportions.
In addition to Pulsins Pea and Rice Protein, I also take Pulsins Soya and Hemp proteins because they all taste differently and it's a good idea to have varied choice which not only prevents you from getting bored of the same product but provides you with different amino acids in different proportions. I have written a separate review for each of these products and I will summarise the most important information on all 4 so that you can compare and contrast:
(As of 25/08/14)
(This table will be left aligned due to Amazons formatting system)
Protein / Taste / Complete / Price / Protein %
Pea / 9.5/10 / No / £13.45 / 80.4%
Rice / 10/10 / No / £19.95 / 80.0%
Soya / 4.5/10 / Yes / £13.75 / 90.0%.
Hemp / 5/10 / Yes / £19.09 / 47.0%
Verdict: Highly Recommended
