My wife bought me a cheap ukulele for my Birthday. Once I'd learned to play it a bit I realised I couldn't make it sound any better due the the terrible cheap strings. I did some reading and the Aquila Nylgut were always highly recommended.

The improvement in sound quality was amazing, even on my cheap Ashton uke. The strings were colour-coded with instructions and easy to fit (even for a first timer like me) They stay in tune and are much softer to the touch than nylon strings.

When I finally decided to purchase a better ukulele, I'll make sure it's fitted with some of these.

Picked these up from Omega Music and think they've made my uke sound twice as good. In comparison to my brother's, which is a more expensive ukulele, our instruments now sound similar. Investing in some of these can make a big difference to the sound, and is certainly cheaper than buying a better ukulele - which I was about to do!

I decided to take others advice and change the strings on my new Ukulele with these. It was not a job I had done before, but I made it after a few mistakes. The sound of my MAHALO Ukulele, bought from Amazon, is much improved. The strings soon bedded in and I am enjoying my playing much more. A good buy!

Bought these to replace the standard nylon ones that came with the uke. My uke is a mahogany Blue moon, cost around £50, so I wasn't expecting a massive improvement - what a revelation! Beautiful tone, resonance, it really does sound like I have bought a new uke. If you are unhappy with the sound of your uke and don't want to fork out for a new (better) one yet, it's definitely worth buying a set of these. You may not bother with that new uke after all...

I bought a cheap ukulele after going to an absolute beginners workshop at the Sage, Gateshead. It (the Uke, that is) was OK but there were intonation problems. I thought that there were problems with the fret placement, but as it was only on one string that the problem lay, I suspected the strings. At about the same time, a friend suggested that replacing the strings on a cheap uke can make a big difference. I found the Aquila strings on Amazon and bought a set and what a difference! The intonation problem has gone and the tone is vastly improved. It's like having a different, much better instrument. They have settled down after about a week and now hold their tune well and need very little adjustment each time I play.

I used the uke at a workshop at Saltburn Folk Festival recently and it did me really well and I did not feel embarrassed at all, especially as many others had brightly painted inexpensive ukes.

I am now looking for a better instrument - and getting a concert uke rather than a soprano. If what I eventually get doesn't come fitted with Aquila strings, I shall definitely replace the ones supplied.

Vastly improve the sound of my cheap Stagg ukulele for a small price, sadly i managed yo accidentally cut one of the strings so have ordered a new set to replace it :)

Just in case people don't know (i didn't) the packet says which strings go where, when it says string 1, 2, 3 and 4 it is counting from the bottom so its 1)A 2)E 3)C 4)G

These strings are absolutely beautiful they made my cheap little Mahalo Ukulele - 2011 Beginner Black sound half decent, will be buying again.

These aquila strings are amazing, I was told if you get a cheep/low end ukulele the first thing to do is change the strings. I would highly recommend this, I have a cheap mahalo uku, and now with these strings it plays like a top or the range uku, with a nice full rich sound. Recommend these.

I bought these as a spare set.The Ukulele I purchased already had these strings on.
I have played several ukulele's with different strings,and I find these are far superior.

These strings made a huge improvment to the sound of our uke. My daughter thought she wanted to buy a better uke, but when we took it into our local music shop to compare with more expensive ones we both decided that her cheap £15 Mahalo beginners 2011 uke now sounds almost as good as ukes costing £80.

These strings are also much easier on the fingers than the original Mahalo strings.
