4.0 out of 5 stars Mozart : [Most Of] Four Operas On MP3
An excellent set. The recordings are rather old, but well transferred, so the sound is quite acceptable (in fact, although these are all studio-recordings, they have a nice close 'warm opera-house' [analogue] feel, which I actually prefer over the more-usual modern-day clinical [digital] sound). The performances (singing, orchestra, conducting) are all superb (Bohm's...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great singing and conducting but Caveat Emptor
These four performances are all classics and contain a feast of great singing and conducting. Beware however - they are not complete. Most of the Finales of Zauberflote and Cosi fan tutte are missing and a large chunk Act 4 of Figaro has gone astray. For £1.09 you are getting a lot of great music but buyers should be are of the missing tracks. The CD equivalents are more...

The CD equivalents are more obviously expensive (but not very expensive!) and are a safer bet for anyone wanting the complete works.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mozart : [Most Of] Four Operas On MP3, 22 Mar. 2013

An excellent set. The recordings are rather old, but well transferred, so the sound is quite acceptable (in fact, although these are all studio-recordings, they have a nice close 'warm opera-house' [analogue] feel, which I actually prefer over the more-usual modern-day clinical [digital] sound). The performances (singing, orchestra, conducting) are all superb (Bohm's Cosi is arguably still the best ever), & the price (£1.09 at the time, though now rather more) was a steal. Recitative is included. The major problem is the missing music (see Geoffrey Cryer's review), which doesn't bother me too much since I have other versions. My only other quibbles are (i) that the indexing has unnecessarily-long filenames, with lotsa spaces (which means that you often can't see them in full on-screen), plus (ii) perhaps the operas have been cut-up into rather too-many too-short tracks, which can result (depending on your media-player) in having too-many slight gaps in the performances (as one track ends & the next loads). That said, all-in-all, this is beautiful music in tremendous performances ... for next-to-nothing.
