5.0 out of 5 stars True peace and reflection
Over recent years, I have leaned towards buying more peaceful music as opposed to the more noisy up-tempo, noisy rock variety. In doing so, I have collected the entire series of Decca's Adagio CDs - they contain pieces that are hard to beat in terms of their serene beauty. But 'Eternal Light' tops the lot. 2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing and monotonous
I was very disappointed with this CD. I found the pieces irritatingly monotonous (I was not always aware when one finished and another started)and for this reason not conducive to bringing about a contemplative/meditative state. The singing is not of a particularly high quality either. All in all, I did not find this CD particularly enjoyable. Much prefer...

In its quiet and contemplative way it leads you into a reflective, peaceful place where other choral or orchestral pieces would have difficulty taking you. Truly tranquil pieces of music heightened by the tender voices of the nuns and the occasional sounding of church bells. Almost unbelievable that it's available new through Amazon at such a bargain price. Very highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars An hour of peace amidst this noisy world, 16 Mar 2001
By
Peter I. Robbins "Russkie" (near Baldock, North Hertfordshire, England) - See all my reviews
Previous CDs of church music have been produced by monks. This one, for a change, features female voices. The nuns have chosen to sing some of the best of ancient church music and good modern pieces. Their tonal quality, volume control and diction are of the highest quality. Even for non-religious persons, this CD is a 'must'. One can close one's eyes for an hour and be totally at peace. The music is not awkwardly sentimental, but some is reflective and some joyful. The accompanying booklet displays the full text of all the pieces. An outstanding recording.

A good CD to put on in the evening when you just want to relax. No big religious feel, just soothing music.
