I bought this to supplement our main electric oven and also use in our scullery rather than main kitchen. Very handy and cooks uniformly. Variable temperature, grill/oven settings. Timer must be used, and times the cooking period - is not for delay-on. Cooks for up to 1 hour. Longer requires reset of timer.
Have used for roasting, baking and grilling.

Bought this oven 2 weeks ago after a great deal of research,

Pros: takes only 3-4 minutes to reach 200 degrees
Size good enough for oven potates/vegetables for 2 or a freeze pizza
Nice that it includes both a grill and a baking tray

Cons: food placed in the right back of the oven gets seroiously more heat than the rest of the food (you have to be alert/aware of that when cooking!)
I've used it approx 7 times now and there's already a massive brown line around the opening that can't be cleaned white again.

All in all - it does its job

Excellent mini oven. Looks very good and pleased with the cooking abilities. Ideal for cakes as has a different setting for this which avoids burning the surface (i.e. heat only produced from base of oven). When cooking roasties etc the setting is for heat above and below. There is also a useful separate pan which can sit below the middle bar and is ideal to catch any spillages etc. Would definitely recommend.

I bought this mini oven when my Tefal one fused after some 20 years use. The A.James is a smart. sturdy built product, with attractive chrome fittings. It
heats up to the required temperature setting remarkably quickly, with two heating elements, top and bottom, assisted by a very quiet fan that cuts in and out controlled by a sensitive thermostat. The top elements can be used on their own to grill. The bottom elements plus the fan will bake cakes pies etc. and the bottom and top elements together, with the fan, will cook or heat meals in the centre of the oven. I use this setting most of the time; M&S meals are cooked rapidly and quite evenly. I find the oven to be very efficient and extremely good value for a modest price. You can even heat a plate on top while cooking, provided a wire rack is put underneath so as not to cover the vent slots. My only slight niggle is that the engraved 10mins 20mins 30mins etc on the chrome timer control is not too easy to see but a tiny spot of paint above each would be a help.

A little smaller than I expected. For roasting vegetables grilling toast etc it is great. Quick to heat up and the combined grill/bake function is fine. Tried a chicken though and ran into problems. The drip tray is way too shallow and when I started to roast the kitchen filled with smoke from the chicken fat. It will very useful as a back up though for those occasions where a lot of things need an oven.

Fresh out the box and trying the controls and the mode selector (grill/oven etc) soon failed and just fell off. Put it back on, but it just spins and falls off. Feeble. The other controls (temperature and timer) are also very flimsy. Build quality is very very poor.

Looking more closely at the underneath the feet on one side are also out of alignment too, though this probably wouldn't affect it in use.

Never even got as far as switching it on as the control had come off in hand.

Now trying to return it, but the process is slow and tortuous as it's not sold from Amazon (pretty good on returns) but Andrew James direct. Still waiting for refund.

Subsequently bought a mini oven from Lidl of all places for half the price - far better build quality (German made).

I bought this because my old Tefal oven was very tatty. I have just used this to cook salmon and sweet potatoes.
Perfect, quicker than my old oven. It has a fan which is very quiet but certainly makes this a very efficient oven.
Very good value and so useful because it is at eye level and saves me having to use my big oven, which would be a waste of money for one person. WELL DONE Andrew James

I would like to say that having pondered on what mini oven to buy the Andrew James 18 Litre has been a very good choice, our existing mini oven of unknown make had lasted years but then eventually 'gave up' so what to buy to replace it? as price is not allways the only consideration I was impressed with the customer reviews on this model. Having to wait only two days for delivery it was straight on with the cooking and this oven is really impressive in what it does, very quick to heat up and a silent fan. Only thing perhaps not so good is the temperature control knob seems a bit loose in its housing but works ok so will keep an eye on it. Overall a very impressive oven and a pleasure to use and glad I did not waste money on a more expensive one.

I bought this oven to avoid having to use my full size fan oven when I'm only cooking small quantities. I chose this one as it had a fan so I thought it would cook faster and more evenly than a mini convection oven. It only has two heating elements on the top and the bottom so it basically grills your food from top and bottom at the same time. I found that food was burnt on the outside by the time it was cooked on the inside so I have resorted to putting tin foil on the grill rack and using it as a sheild between the top elements and the baking tray with rolled up tin foil on over the bottom elements and then placing another tray on top of this with the food on it. A bit of a palava but the only way I can 'bake' anything without cremating it!
I have found the thermostat to be wildly inaccurate i.e. 150 is nearer 180.
This oven is not a 'cool wall' either which you are warned about in the meagre instructions so gets very hot on the top and I suspect most of the power goes into heating the kitchen rather than the inside of the oven. The paint on the outside started to discolour almost immediately above the door where hot air was escaping which shows how poorly insulated the thing is.
Overall I am very disappointed with this oven. It's not an expensive item but nevertheless I am not convinced it's any cheaper to run than my normal oven and as I don't trust it to cook anything properly it is being used less and less.
It seemed like a good idea at the time but I suspect it has been a complete waste of money.
