Affectionately referred to as an "ebay trigger" or by various word plays on leading trigger brand "pocket wizard" alluding to their shall we say extremely economical nature, these babies are cheap and versatile, providing a multitude of ways to trigger flashes, most tempting of which for a cheapskate like me is hotshoe to hotshoe as neither my flash or DSLR offer anything so decadent as PC sockets. A boggling host of adapters for cables that apparently do but probably shouldn't trigger a flash are included in the box, so you shouldn't have any trouble if you don't want to go down the hotshoe route - or, intriguingly, if you want to trigger multiple flashes from one receiver.

A few words of warning should be mentioned, I feel. Firstly, run the receivers off alkaline AAA batteries only, they got exceedingly grumpy with NiMH eneloop rechargeables, as in the range dropped to about six inches - iShoot, destroying the environment two AAAs at a time. Secondly, there's no tightening screw on the foot under the receiver, so if your flash/umbrella stand setup requires a foot/shoe connection to hold your flash in place rather than a screw, then you're going to be weaving elaborate webs with electrical tape to make sure your flash and receiver doesn't go for a short-but-terminal tumble. There's a standard screw fitting, though, so this may not be an issue for most.

All in all, these represent outstanding value for money and consequently somewhat less-than-stellar industrial design and build quality, but with two receivers and a transmitter going for under thirty quid with batteries you can't really go wrong. Pair it up with a YongNuo speedlight, a cheap stand and umbrella, and you can have a complete kit for about a third to a quarter of the price of a "decent" speedlight on its own.

Great affordable set of triggers. Have used them with a Canon 40D on both studio flash units and 580exii. The direct plug socket into studio flash seems a better secure fit than others I have used with cables. Used these on a 6 hour shoot the other day and not a single misfire.
Very happy with these and may well be ordering some more...

The three star rating (meaning “it’s okay”) is irrelevant to my experience of this product – it was just the most neutral of the five choices. I HAVE NOTHING NEGATIVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS LITTLE KIT. This review is simply to ‘warn’ any other potential purchasers that this product does not synch my Canon 550D to my old Courtenay Solaflash 1000/1000s Studio heads, originally bought in 1984 to use with my Minolta X500 film camera. I tried all the combinations with both receivers on both flash units with the different channel switch combinations. Just didn’t work. The test button on the Transmitter did light both Receivers, so they are ‘seeing’ each other – but they just didn’t fire my units. Even if I owned a digital camera with flash sync socket (to plug directly into sync socket of flash head), there are incompatible voltage issues with ‘digital’ versus ‘film’ based equipment which can result in permanent damage to a digital camera which will invalidate warranty. I have searched for many hours online but have yet to see a solution to get my flash heads to sync with my camera – shame because the flash units are in excellent nick. Any advice very welcome, thanks.
I don’t own any other Flash Units so couldn’t test the product generally. Have returned them for full refund.

This is a great piece of kit. It works perfectly on my Canons DSLR's and I can't see what extra benefit you would gain from buying similar products at 4 or 5 times the price. I just plugged the receivers into my studio flash heads and the transmitter onto my camera and works perfectly. There is a button on top of the transmitter that you can press and it triggers the flash heads without firing the camera which is great for metering. Two little switches on top of all items to set a choice of four channels. This is a great piece of kit for operating heads that might not work in slave mode due to obstructions or ambient light.

Excellent addition to my kit. I was surpried at how small the units are but they seem sturdy enough. My only quibble would be the placing of the leds on the receiver units - they are hidden from view when I use the larger of my flashguns.

I actually bought both the A and S kits, each with two receivers because I have a mix of kit, speedlights and other flash equipment. I have since found these units very effective and not only that they work together perfectly too, so differences in ISO/Sony/Minolta hot shoes can easily be catered for. I have used them up to 15m away from the flashes being controlled and no problems or interference, so they may be cheap, but in this case they're a bargain - cheap and work, a good combination

Does the job perfectly. Providing you are happy using manual mode on the flashes why spend a fortune on something else..It's never misfired yet...

Ishoot while being a budget product in price it is not in quality. works very well both indoors and outside. i use them for teaching students and they are ideal both price wise and size wise for this. They don't stand up high above the camera and get knocked like some of the top price brands

It does exactly as it says. . A really great product that works with the 3 different makes of speedlights that I have. The adapters fit and therefore it can be used with studio lights too, my only gripe is, that I wish I'd purchased the set with 4 receivers.
