A super snug fitting case, all the holes in the right places and it protects the iPad extremely well from dust, scratches and bumps. Probably wouldn't save it so well from a drop however.

The case does seem to look a bit 'smudgey' in places after a lot of use, it seems to look like it has dusty patches on it (which is probably what they are) and can look a little unsightly but they wipe off with a damp cloth easily. The case is a strange fabric, almost velvety inside and a mat black rubbery texture on the outside which is why i think it attracts dust and scuffs easily.

It stands up nicely too with a decent typing position and film/photo viewing position.

I've tried a hard shell, a leather like case, and this one. This one is by far the best of the ones i used and looks far tidier and nice too.

30 pounds is a lot of money for a case - but now I know why there is a 1 month waiting list through the Apple stores.
Its a perfect design - the stand option is ideal for most applications. After a month of heavy use the case shows no signs of wear and it makes the ipad easy to hold on to so much less chance of dropping the thing, and more protection if you did. Buy one its an insurance policy!

I read some online reviews before buying this, and they all seemed to say that it was OK, but not great. Before buying, I could understand why. There is no padding, in case of drops, the stand features are slightly lacking, and it is quite plain. Not to mention the £30 price tag from Apple. However, I would say that many of these are not true or don't matter. Firstly, the padding. Whilst that would be nice, it would detract from the sleekness of the iPad, and, like my laptop in it's neoprene sleeve, I don't plan on dropping it! This isn't something I would use walking around, like a phone or iPod. The stand features on it are perfect: you can simply tuck the front of the case that protects the screen into a small flap on the underside, giving the iPad + case a triangular profile, allowing you to have it slightly inclined on a lap or desk, or standing on the "base" of the triangle, as it were, almost fully face on to you in landscape, ready to watch movies or the like. Finally, its a looker. The material is a nice, microfibre-type feel, the iPad fits in snug and doesn't move around. Plus it requires slight effort to get it out, so it won't ever unexpectedly slip out. The Apple logo on the front is a nice touch too, and the whole thing looks like a slightly smaller-than-A4 professional portfolio, and it also doesn't look immediately like an iPad, as said logo is not bright white, but a dark grey.

Finally, the price. Official accessories are always going to be a bit pricey, but it isn't far off other cases, and is certainly cheaper than the more premium leather ones, although I'd say just as stylish, but in a nicer, understated way.

I got this case when I bought my iPad as I wanted to ensure my new purchase was protected.
The case has an unusual outer texture, and it does tend to show dirt and dust quite easily, however a wipe with a damp cloth or wet-wipe soon makes it as good as new.
Looks wise the case is nothing special, with only a muted Apple logo to identify it as an Apple product.

Ok, I guess I have covered my negative thoughts already so onto the positive...
The iPad is a very good fit into this, and fitting takes a bit of patience and care due the good fit. This excellent fit will serve you well though as I have never had my iPad even look like it's going to fall out.
The case has cutouts for all switches and sockets, and these line up perfectly. I have never had any problems accessing any of the functions.
The case can be used for four basic options, these are...
1. Closed for storing and protecting the iPad.
2. Fully open with the cover folded back, for easy holding.
3. Typing position, the lid fits into a latch allowing the iPad to sit at an angle for easy typing and viewing.
4. Viewing position, the lids fits into the latch but this time it stands vertically for easy viewing of films etc.
So it's a simple looking case that actually offers a good degree of flexibility.

In the last few months I have looked at other cases as I sometimes feel I'd like something better looking, but I have never found a case that I feel happy to switch to.
The main issue is that pretty much every case I look at is either too bulky or the iPad is not held as securely.
Bulkiness is my main concern, too many cases add too much weight and size to the iPad to be aesthetically pleasing.

So it would appear that Apple came to their design for a reason, and it works.
In summary, it might not be the most beautiful case but bit wins in so many other factors.
If you have an iPad I would recommend this case.

The case is good, slick but you cant help but feel the extra 10-15 pounds is only for the little 'Apple' badge on the front...

You can get as good around for alot less than what this costs however one thing it does well is protect the Ipad and feels comfortable in the hand. Due to its rubbery like feel you never feel like its going to fall out of your hands which maybe a problem for cases which are leather.

There is a little flap that stops the Ipad falling out which is a nice touch though and when you flip it over it stands up well so you can type but this is a feature all the other cases have...

Overall - if your an Apple geek you will buy everything Apple regardless. If you are wondering what makes this better than the rest? not alot....

I can't really believe this is an Apple product, as it doesn't appear to have been designed for purpose. It doesn't really fit the iPad (a slightly loose fitting) and when you want to display the iPad at an angle the iPad drops to the bottom edge of the case and looks as if it is going to fall out. Therefore when I have been showing people items on the iPad I hold it rather than leave it sat on a desk. I wanted a case that would cover the back and the front of the iPad, which this does, but overall it is very disappointing indeed.

I was disappointed with this item. It is a poor fit - the iPad buttons are very difficult to access when the case is on the iPad. I read the reviews - but I didn't think it would be as poor as it is. I'm going to have to trim it so I can access the various iPad buttons. Rather a waste of money - should have gone to a shop where I could have a look at cases! I spent quite some time investigating cases - and still it was a mistake buying this!

I have had my iPad for several months now, and I bought the case with it. As other people have said, the case can look scuffed and grubby after some use, but it does not take long (and a wipe with a damp cloth) to remove these. I like the case because it is slim, simple to use, and has no inside pockets to store other items, like credit cards. I also like the strange feel of the case, and it helps to add grip to it, as Apple products can be smooth and easy to drop. I have been looking at other cases, but I am not purchasing another one when this one suits my needs so well. When I am not using or charging my iPad, I keep it in a Netbook case I have bought, which helps reduce dust, along with a cased Amazon Kindle (yes, in the same bag).

I only have one complaint, but I am not reducing a star because all it takes is sliding the iPad out and cleaning it! I have found that dust and other particles can collect around the edges of the case, especially if you wipe it a lot, but taking the thing out every so often and giving it and the case a separate clean does not take long.

Sometimes all you need is a case without added pockets and clasps. It is simple, grips the iPad well (although I do not know if it would help protect against a drop) and it suits my needs.

The item itself is okay, but after only a few days starts to look a little shabby and scuffed, despite only being used around the house rather than travelling around. That may not be an issue in itself if protection is more important to you than aesthetics. The cover will protect against scratches etc. but not against any serious knocks or being dropped. Very expensive for what it is.

For me, however (which is not made clear in the product description) the most serious drawback is that it does not fit an iPad2 properly. The iPad2 apparently is slightly smaller than its predecessor (a fact of which I was unaware at the time of purchase) and as a result is loose within this cover. I found that the iPad started slipping out after using it for only a short time and it gets very annoying to keep having to re-align it. There is no solution to this and in the end I gave up and have bought an alternative cover specifically designed for the iPad2.

Also, note that this cover is not one of the "magic" covers that puts the iPad to sleep when closed.
