Cheaper alternative to 1st party adapter
on 6 January 2013
I bought this after getting the Rocksmith Guitar game for the xbox 360. I was getting terrible audio delay using an HDMI cable alone which rendered the game unplayable. The game recommended this as the optimal solution so I thought I'd try it. The audio adapter is clearly a cheap alternative to the 1st party offering but seems to do the job well enough thus far. It was a little resistant fitting it in to my 360 Slim but once in place seems firmly attached and allows me to pass the audio directly to a hi-fi with aux sockets on the back (a Phono RCA cable was also required). I can't comment about the optical port as I don't use it. It's slim enough to allow the HDMI cable to be plugged in too which I previously couldn't manage with the component cable due to its bulky plastic casing obstructing the HDMI port.
The audio passes though well and sounds fine so would have received top marks if it wasn't for the HDMI cable that came bundled with it. When first plugged it in simply didn't work at all, seemingly not transmitting a signal. After some random wiggling/unplug/plug back in type fiddling, it started working but now seems to intermittently drop or loose its signal resulting in a black screen until I wiggle it around a bit. It's been discarded. I considered it as a bit of freebie anyway given the cost and didn't really need it, so it's not really a big deal. Nonetheless, it lets down a great budget option and may be an issue if you don't already have a spare HDMI cable handy.
