4.0 out of 5 stars An inspiring woman - do read this book, 2 April 2001
By A Customer
I knew nothing about Josephine Baker only the fact that she was a dancer in 20's. Ean Woods book not only gives the reader an insight into her career but also Josephine as a child, a petulant'grande dame', an amazing show woman and believe it or not a war heroine. I loved the story and the way it was written, my only grumble is that I would love to have seen more photographs of Josephine in the book. Overall it was a very good read.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Richest Black Woman in the World, 17 Jan. 2013

This is the best biography of Josephine Baker that I have read telling her story from her impoverished beginnings in St Louis, up to her becoming the richest black woman in the world, and on to her State Funeral in Paris, and burial in Monaco. Well worth reading.
