4.0 out of 5 stars A very decent album, actually
I had the very good fortune to see the band twice on the "Equator" tour, and they were absolutely superb. This set of songs might have been more mainstream than much of the early output, but was a seamless fit with the two previous and excellent albums. 2.0 out of 5 stars It looks like a different band
An album with little inspiration. It looks like a different band, a pop band, not Uriah Heep. Maybe it's the 80's effect.

"Rockerama", "Angel" and especially "Poor Little Rich Girl" bear comparison with any of Heep's output, and are unmistakably 'Eavy and 'Umble. It might not have garnered much critical acclaim, but this really isn't an album that should be overlooked by any melodic rock fan.

It's my favourite Heep album with Pete Goalby, the songs and production are superior to Abominog and Head first and those are both excellent albums.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dated sounds, 13 Nov. 2010

Oh dear this sounds terribly dated and is from the mid 80's doldrums when they couldn't get arrested. This is rock on autopilot and barely breaks sweat. Don't let this be your introduction to Uriah Heep, because you will be missing out on one of the great English rock bands.

Musically this is a competant album.
It just sounds calculated, no risk, no wow factor, no real emotion. There is nothing wrong with this album - even the critics loved it - but it leaves me cold.
I rate Conquest higher than this one, but if you have bought everything else you might as well have this one.
