The Sentimental Agent is series produced by ITC and a spin off series from another ITC series called Man of the World. The main character was introduced in that series but gets his own show here. It really is an excellent series. There are some very clever stories.
I felt that they were better thought out than those in the series Man of the world. And its interesting to see how the main character goes about solving a problem.
The main character is a sophisticated one who helps people out of some difficult situations.
Carlos Varella (played by Carlos Thompson) is a import export agent. He is a charmer.
There is the usual worldwide locations which helps to give the show glamour.
The support cast are also on top form. Burt Kwouk is excellent as Chin.
The whole series is fun and adventure, glamour and location. And there is a lot of humour thrown in for good measure. Sadly there are only 13, black and white episodes but they are all most enjoyable. Don't let the fact that they are in black and white put you off because they are very good. The Sentimental Agent is a great series from a classic era of British TV and I highly recommend it.

having looked at most of the known itc series such as the saint, danger man etc i moved on to man of the world and then found this, until now little watched show.
carlos thompson is excellent in the lead role with great support from burt kwouk and clemence bettany. Many other well known guest actors appear throughout the series. i loved the sets and the wardrobe from what now seems another age.
thompson was not used in a couple of episodes as the producers thought there would be problems with the audience understanding his accent (!)
the theme tune (carlos theme) fits perfectly with the main characters persona.
all in all very entertaining and well worth the money.

Classic vintage made with style and loads of humour and a marvellous performance by Bert Kwok and Carlos Thompson. Fun

Starts out OK and then loses it way with the loss of it's star. Interesting idea though.

i have to confess that "the sentimental agent" is far from being my favourite I.T.C show(that honour goes to "the saint").
the stories aren't interesting enough and the dialogue is mostly routine and cliched.
the leading man is o.k, if rather wooden and boring for my liking. he doesn't have the charisma of roger moore nor the hard-edged quality of patrick mcgoohan.
the main reason i bought this series, was to see one of my favourite actors derren nesbitt. his episode is quite good but the idea is rather daft.

Good quality product - nice to see something that I enjoyed watching on black and white TV. Arrived quickly with adequate packaging.
