Anyone who owns an iPod or iPhone will know that they can sometimes find their device has run out of power at the most inconvenient time. Handy then, to be able to just plug your device into a power socket to recharge, especially if you are nowhere near to a PC or laptop.
What you get here then, is that most essential of accessories - a plug, an AC adapter and a connecting cable for the iPod classic, iPhone 3G/3GS,& 4-Black.Throw in an in-car adaptor that plugs into your dashboard power socket, and you have a handy piece of kit for everyday use. That's not all. As this is a travel Adapter kit, the plugs are interchangeable for UK, China, USA/Japan, and France/Germany (I assume this suits all of European use?). Amazon have even thought to include a neat Nylon pouch to carry it all in!
Very easy to use, the cable connects your iPod or Iphone to the adapter, and a simple twist/turn action allows you to change the pins on the plug to the one of your choice, depending on the country you are in.
I know this will come into it's own when I am on holiday, but I already use mine as a standby in this country wherever I am. Basic but essential, there are other similar products on the market, but this one is well designed , compact and sturdy. Recommended.

This is a great little kit. In the box you get a neat little bag to keep everything together, a car USB charger, an iphone/ipod connecting cable, and a wall plug with lots of different adapters which fit on to ensure that you can charge your power hungry apple gadget wherever you are in the world. The cable connects well to my iphone - some cheaper replacement cables have felt as if they are going to damage the iphone, but no such problems here. The wall adapter itself is a dinky thing. You press down a button and twist to remove the plate that holds the pins that go into the wall, and then to add a different plate, simply twist on in the opposite direction. Each of the "plates" are labeled so you can see which one to use depending on the country you are in. All in all, this is a great little travel kit, and recommended if you have a compatible iPod or iPhone.

I've had a few mains chargers for my iPod now and all them have failed after a two or three uses - except that is for this one.

This set comprises of a mains charger (which converts any mains socket into a charging USB socket), a sync cable, and a car charger (which again converts your in-car electric point into a USB socket). It also comes with travel adaptors for the mains plug so that it can be used in various countries - and all of this can be kept together in the bag which comes with it all.

I can't speak highly enough of this set, I have no need for the travel adaptors just yet but they all feel sturdy and I am confident of their quality. It's not at all fiddly either, simply use the sync cable which came with your iPod Touch/iPhone or the one which is included this set to connect your device to either the mains or the in-car charger. The cable itself is nicely formed and not loose at the ends (as some of the cheaper ones tend to be), it's also black and looks quite funky compared to the usual white Apple issued one!

I also have other devices which can be charged using USB such as my works Nokia brick phone; using the in-car charger I've been able to keep it topped up using the Nokia data cable which came with the phone.

There are cheaper charging kits out there but so far I've had nothing but bad luck with them, I would strongly recommend paying a bit more and getting a set like this which should last - it might work out cheaper than buying a new cheapo one every couple of weeks!

In a nutshell: A fantastic set which means you can charge your iPod/iPhone wherever there is a mains socket or an in-car electric 'cigarette lighter' plug. It's amazing how many visitors appreciate being offered a cup of tea and a charge of their favourite Apple device!

The AmazonBasics Travel Adaptor Kit is more comprehensive than some with 4 interchangeable mains-connectors and a separate car-charger connector. The 4 connectors fix onto the charger unit with a secure click-lock fixing and are marked with the countries they're designed for (China / USA~Japan / Germany~France / UK) but they'd probably work in many more countries with the same plug styles. As you'd expect the charger itself copes with voltages between 100~250 volts so you should be good to charge almost anywhere.

All the components, in common with every AmazonBasics product I've tried, are solid and well-made and come with a really handy drawstring bag which has a centre divider which stops components rattling together too much. It's all quite lightweight and wouldn't add much bulk to your luggage. The charger has worked with every iPod (including older models) and iPhone I've tried it with and it's especially nice to see a black cable and charger to match the black iPhone! It's not the cheapest international charger set I've seen but it's certainly a quality item that should be tough enough to withstand all but the roughest travels.

If you're lucky enough to own an iPad then it's worth noting this charger does not output the higher amperage that iPads need for a full-speed charge - but there are some charger sets which do (eg: Griffin PowerDuo Charger for iPod/iPhone/iPad) and they might be a better buy if you have both an iPod/iPhone and iPad in your travel bags.

I tried (and failed) to find something like this in the Apple Store, so was delighted to find this kit on Amazon instead. Basically this is a travel pack that allows you to charge your iphone or ipod overseas, or in your car.

The kit contains one charger, to which you attach the pins of your choice. There are four sets of pins included :-

* China
* USA/Japan
* France/Germany
* UK.

Each set is clearly labelled with the country it is applicable for, and clicks easily into place in the main body of the charger. The pins also have a release button to press when you want to remove them. A standard USB-Apple cable (included) then attaches the charger to the i-device.

There is also an in-car charger (which attaches via the same cable direct to the i-device) and a small black drawstring mesh bag to carry everything around in. The bag has a discrete Amazon logo on a tab on the side.

The packaging is labelled 'certified frustration free' - and sure enough, inside the box everything is set neatly into a cardboard platform on one tier - you won't spend hours taking it all apart to track down cables, pins or whatever else located on multiple levels or in 'secret' compartments! There is also a small instruction booklet included and a one year guarantee.

Great little kit - just check to make sure your device is compatible - this appears to be for the iphone 3G and 3GS, plus ipod classic. It isn't listed as being iphone 4 compatible in the Amazon blurb, but the box says it is (4-black) and, at the time of writing, other reviews suggest this to be the case.

The best ideas are simple ones, and this is a good example.
I have grown weary of trying to track down bits of plug connecting ephemera when getting ready for a holiday or business trip abroad, but this gadget works for me - It is a little bag, with all the bits and bobs you need to connect your devices.
A few extra connectors (more countries) would be nice, but what you get is not too bad. It also comes in a neat little drawstring bag to keep it all together, although I think you really need 2 bags - one to take the bits you need with you on holiday, and one to safely keep all the other bits together in your sock drawer at home while you are away.
Whether or not these two bags would ever actually meet again when you get back home - well that's another story!
It works too, which seems to be a definite bonus these days, and my iPod Touch (4th generation) is fine with it.

We've bought several items in the Amazon basics range before, and not been disappointed with any of them. They are generally remarkably good quality at a very reasonable price, and this travel adapter for the ipod or iphone is no exception. As well as the expected variety of plugs to cover whichever part of the world you are travelling to, the kit also includes a USB cable for normal charging, and an in-car charger as well.

The original Apple cable with our iphone eventually split (it's heavily used, and proved not to be durable enough) but this one seems of better quality than that, so will hopefully last longer. The in-car charger will also be useful, and again, seems a better design than the one we had before. My husband has a tough, Otterbox case for his iphone, as his work is very practical, and there is more risk of his phone getting damaged or dropped. One of the minor additional good points about this in-car charger is it will connect to the phone through the appropriate hole in the case - with his previous in-car charger, you had to remove the case first.

Finally, the whole kit comes with a small nylon drawstring bag, so it's handy and easy to pack in your luggage. Another useful and quality product from AmazonBasics.

This travel kit is predominantly for overseas usage. Most useful to me at the moment is the car adapter, because I haven't yet had the opportunity to test the universal plugs for use in the numerous countries specified in the Amazon product description.

I haven't researched travel kits of this type, but the current price-tag for this kit seems a little steep to me, although as this is the kind of item that can prove integral to people who travel often, then it's cost-effectiveness is going to be dependent on how frequently the user is traveling.

Of the functions I've been able to make use of: the mains adapter/UK plug/USB cable/car cigarette-lighter-plug all slot together with a minimum of fuss. The three other plugs besides all slot into place in a similar fashion. The simplicity is a bonus here, as is the draw-string bag, which is practical to a fault.

In summary: I can't fault the contents, and if, after shopping around this proves to be a cost-effective option for you, then there need be no hesitation in purchasing.

An essential item to have if you are on the go and find that your iPhone needs charging whilst out.

The iPhones 3G are a great idea but the length of charge on them not such a good one, now if you are travelling and need to use your phone alot then by the end of the day (if not charging up) then you will be left high and dry. At least with this you can plug it into your car easily and recharge your phone and still be able to use it.

This little kit along with it's own travel bag, helps you out of those situations, as all the necessary bits for charging are contained in the set (travel to your meeting with your phone charging in the car). Great for business travellers, just keep in your laptop/overnight bag and do away with having to buy those really expensive adapter sets at the airports. I know this little set will come in useful for business travel to India shortly, but just now at home it has helped out alot.

The best bit is the price. Amazon Basic - a great basic set of bits for your iphone (3G) but not at the high costs of the phones makers.

One thing to mention though is that the bit that plugs into your phone has writing on both sides, not just one, so do make sure that you put it into the phone base properly as trying to put it in the wrong way round could damage your phone. Would have been better to have only one side with writing on to make it easier to see which way round it goes in.

If you have an iPhone 3G/3GS or iPod classic and travel frequently, then you will certainly find this comprehensive charging accessory pack useful. It also appears to be compatible with the iPhone 4, as anecdotal evidence suggests, although there is nothing official in the manual to say so.

It comes with mains plug adaptors for the following countries;

- The UK
- China
- France/Germany
- USA/Japan

and, in the manual, warns that they should be only used in the countries specified. So if you're travelling to Spain, Greece and other Euro countries, you're not covered by this kit... even if it fits! Perhaps a little common sense needs to apply here, there.

It also includes a handy adaptor for the car's cigarette lighter.

It's very easy to put together, comes with a handy carry bag and will provide most of the charging needs you could possibly have on the road.

The only reason it loses one star is that it could have catered for the iPod shuffle/nano - i.e., the smaller models - plus you can't officially use it in other Euro countries without effectively invalidating the warranty. Other than that, it's a useful bit of kit.
