4.0 out of 5 stars The 13th ain't unlucky for us
The 13th season of The Simpsons is definitely worth checking out. The golden age of The Simpsons ended a few years ago but its OK because there are some pretty darn good episodes to enjoy as well as some interesting commentary and features for The Simpsons' geeks! The design for this package is game-themed. There's a nice picture of Ralph who stars on the cover this time...

2.0 out of 5 stars Season 13: Slightly better than 11 or 12 but still nowhere near the classic seasons
This 13th season (2001-2002, 22 episodes) of our favourite yellow family would have you amazed on how a cartoon can last this long! At this point, the show's quality has been on the slide for about the past three seasons and the 12th in my opinion was very forgetable. The 13th season is an slight improvement on the 12th but only just. Both 13 and 14 were the seasons where...

4.0 out of 5 stars The 13th ain't unlucky for us,
This review is from: The Simpsons - Season 13 - Complete [DVD] (DVD)The 13th season of The Simpsons is definitely worth checking out. The golden age of The Simpsons ended a few years ago but its OK because there are some pretty darn good episodes to enjoy as well as some interesting commentary and features for The Simpsons' geeks! The design for this package is game-themed. There's a nice picture of Ralph who stars on the cover this time and he and the game theme follows suit through the DVD's with the features I will mention later. Once again we have the amazing cardboard packaging and the plastic coated backings for the DVD's to rest on. Not fabulous but that's the way it is!
Some interesting episodes are Treehouse of Horror XII where Homer gets cursed by a gypsy, The Simpsons' house tries to kill them when they install new technology (guest voiced by Pierce Brosnan and a quick part from Matthew Perry), and Mr Burns becomes a dragon in a Harry Potter parody. The parent rap features a new evil judge and sentences Homer to be shackled to Bart 24/7! , Homer the Moe has Homer taking over Moe's bar while he's away at college, A hunka, hunka Burns in love (the title is an obvious rip-off of a popular Elvis song!) where Mr. Burns finds a woman! The blunder years has Homer screaming constantly after being hypnotised which uncovers a repressed memory, Homer's Vegas wife shows up again in Brawl in the family, Jaws wired shut sees the return of Artie Ziff, The Bart wants what it wants features guest voicing by Reese Witherspoon where Bart begins dating Rainier Wolfcastle's daughter, Tales from the public domain has parodies of classic stories, Blame it on Lisa sees the family heading to Brazil, Weekend at Burnsie's sees Homer addicted to medical Marijuana in a controversial episode, I am furious yellow has Bart creating a popular cartoon based on Homer and The sweetest Apu has the Quickie Mart owner cheating on his wife!
The special features have as usual commentaries on every episode (Matt Groening appearing in 8 of them - double the amount as in series 14!), sketch galleries featuring original drawings, animation showcases, a language feature, Ralphisms which is recycled clips of some of the best Ralph phrases, The people ball which shows how the design was created for Sweet and sour Marge, The 13th crewman which is about a design for the sail of a boat which has Bart on it!, Blame it on the monkeys is about the controversy that Blame it on Lisa created with Brazil having a very negative reaction towards the episode! Al Jean tells us that the Marijuana episode was fine and had high ratings but the Brazil episode caused many complaints! The games is an interesting feature which takes us through every Simpson's game created up to now and gives an insight into the development of gaming technology. The sweet life of Ralph shows the development of Ralph as a character with more old footage taking us up to this season. There are deleted scenes on many episodes which can be enjoyed during the episodes, after and features commentary as usual.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good series, but still rubbish packaging,
This review is from: The Simpsons - Season 13 - Complete [DVD] (DVD)Another solid series with some of my fave episodes like The Parent Rap and The Sweetest Apu and as previous reviewers state there is the odd clunker, but what comedy series doesn't have the odd dodgy episode and what is one persons rubbish is another persons errrmm another pesons not rubbish???? I can't think of a saying right now!!!
So no problems with the content but again...what's with the terrible packaging?? Once more as with recently released Simpsons box sets we get discs that slide straight into hard cardboard "pouches", actually pouches is too nice a word it sounds like it offers protection to the disc, how about cardboard slits that you shove the disc into! All bound together in a tacky box. From brand new each of my discs had surface scratches on them even though I removed them as carefully as I could, and they probably got a few when they were originally put into the packaging too, they're shoved in pretty tightly. So to prevent further damage I have had to put them in more disc friendly pouches (there's that word again). In fact my first disc of the set was stuck to the sleeve and had the glue used in sticking the case together all across it, luckily I managed to get it off using isopropyl alcohol and a lint free cloth. Just great!! It's easily by far the worst packaging I have on any box set of DVD's I own.
So series itself...top notch generally, presentation a big ZERO!
5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoy all the other Features,

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME SERIES but packaging not great,
This review is from: The Simpsons - Season 13 - Complete [DVD] (DVD)The Simpsons season 13 is another great season, full of laughs from our lovable characters Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. Everything about the episodes are great, i cannot stress how much i love this season. However the packaging isn't great, the best DVD packaging i have seen is that of season 6 up to 10 were the DVD packaging was amazing but the season 11,12,13 packaging is a bit of a let down.I recommend you do what i have done and that is buy some plastic DVD/CD sleevs and place them inside the cardboard sleeves. Placing the DVD in the plastic sleeve will protect it, i haven't had any damage to the disk from the cardboard from season 11 (i haven't put plastic sleeves in this boxset) so it is ok without the plastic sleeves.
Despite the packaging this is still a GREAT boxset to buy, so i will be giving it 5 stars because of the DVD content. But the dvd sleeves are still quite delicate.
SO IN CONCLUSION PLEEASE!! BUY THIS BOXSET AS IT IS BRILL AND I AM SURE YOU WILL NOT BE LET DOWN. 5 STARS! :D
