Cracking reissue of this most unusual album from possibly the only Greek band I can think of. Those who thought Demis Roussos was just a warbling crooner (but a fine one at that) should check this out. The legend that is Vangelis is here too and together they make a wonderful mix of psychedelic and acoustic sounds with impassioned vocals. An extremely unique and intriguing band. Being an Esoteric release it contains spectacularly remastered sound, highly readable sleeve notes and a beautifully designed booklet. This really is the definitive version.

Brilliant these remastered cd's of Aphrodite's Child. A must have for all fans ( with extra tracks only available thusfar on The Complete Collection, now unavailable). Now let's hope Esoteric get the rights to Aphrodite's Child 666 and re-release it with Vangelis again at the helm remastering and including the fabled lost parts?

I've had this on vinyl for many years and it's great to see it see the light of day on CD at last. The musicianship is very good, as you'd probably expect from Vangelis and Demis Roussos but also excellent drumming from Lucas Sideras. Just listen to "You Always Stand In My Way" as an example; wild vocals, manic mellotron and fab drums all feature in this 4 minute thrash. The overall flavour is very Greek psychedelia/prog-rock, complete with goats, spacey keyboards, the much loved mellotron and some very weird lyrics. The only track I'm not keen on is Mister Thomas, a slice of English whimsy that seemed to be de rigeur for those bands who wandered into the psych/pop style. It's a throwaway track in my view. The straightest track is, of course, Rain and Tears with Demis at his heartaching best.
This album is well worth investigating if you are into 60's pop/psych/prog or want to know more about the roots of Demis and/or Vangelis.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting greek group from the sixties, 21 Mar 2013

Have this on LP from1968, but it is almost worn out and difficult to obtain new as LP. Bought it because it was available on CD. "Rain and tears" are the big hit from the album. Recomended for lovers of prog and late sixties pop music. Vangelis and Demis Roussos are the head members of the group.
