This disc from 1994 was made at a 'live' concert in Japan. It features the outstanding line-up of Sting, Dominic Miller, David Sancious and Vinnie Colaiuta which was one of the best bands that Sting has ever had and had a tremendous ability to 'gell' well in performance.
The 24 numbers performed include most of the contents of the popular 'Summoner's Tales' video or CD, also recorded by the same line-up. In addition there are several of the popular 'Police' period numbers and the disc could almost be described as 'Sting Highlights' as of that time.
The recording could not be described as cutting edge technology and the imaging leaves much to be desired in terms of lighting and clarity. However it is sufficiently satisfactory to compensate all those who cannot understand why the excellent Summoner's Tales video never made it to DVD. The video format is 4:3 and there is a good stereo sound track. This could be described as a lot better than nothing as there are no alternatives of this band with this repertoire on offer.
Bearing in mind all the above I would suggest that most Sting enthusiasts would give this 3 stars for imaging but 4 stars for musical content, sound and rarity value. In my opinion I would stick to the 4 stars overall as I personally have a great liking for this band and this period of Sting's performance style. I am therefore prepared to make allowances to get the benefit of the concert.
