3.0 out of 5 stars Silly little filler game
This is very much a silly, push your luck style filler game. there is no tactical play involved. Its just rolling dice and deciding whether to stick or twist and push your luck for more points. And yet for all its simplicity, it is fun. One of the advantages of the game is that due to its nature it can be played by any number of players (could even be played solo if...

This game is both simple to play and quick to set up. It's ready to play from the box but counters or paper and a pencil can be helpful for keeping score. The objective is to be the first player to eat 13 brains without getting shot. The catch is that you must always roll three dice per "roll" with various weighting of risk and reward. Dice feature three different graphics representing brains - the objective, footprints - victim ran away and the die can be rolled again for a different result (as part of the three dice rule), shotgun blast - three hits and your turn is over. Brains and shotgun blasts are set at the side of your play area for your turn. Green dice are easy prey, yellow are intermediate and red dice represent tough opponents. Brains scored prior to gaining three shotgun blasts can be banked and play passed to another player, if you get three or more shotgun blasts in your turn then you don't get to bank any brains for that round.

Typically a game lasts 5 - 10 minutes when played with three or four players and can be played with any number upwards of two people. The packaging is a similar size to a can of soft drink so is easily portable but players with bigger hands may want to use a cloth bag for drawing dice as it's rather a tight fit to draw three dice blindly from the tube.

I often play this at the pub before and/or after a main Munchkin session with a regular crowd and is quite a popular choice. As a quick, easy to play distraction for 15 minutes or so it's ideal but can become tiresome if played for more than a few games back to back.

And yet for all its simplicity, it is fun. One of the advantages of the game is that due to its nature it can be played by any number of players (could even be played solo if you really wanted to). My Mum, who is in her 60's, played this and enjoyed it. Not one she would want to own but would certainly play it given the chance.

Purchased this for a long flight with a friend of mine to keep us entertained. Zombie Dice is great fun, and is great in both short bursts and long sessions. Highly recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great little filler, 6 Jan. 2015

Honestly, this game's a bit simple for me - little more strategy than Shut The Box or Ludo - but it's short, very easy to learn/explain, and has a nice silly theme that anybody can jump into, or not, as is their fancy. It's a great filler if you have other games around, and can be played just as easily drunk as sober, by people of any age or game-playing experience, even if it's never going to have a community of rabid fans, and is a great one for drawing in curious onlookers in the pub who've nothing better to do with their hands between sips.

WARNING: This game is addictive! The first time I played this, I managed to do the unthinkable and rolled 16 brains without getting shotgunned and I've been in love with this game ever since. I have also downloaded the app on my phone to play while I'm out and about, but it's much better playing with the real dice with friends.

Got this for my husband for his birthday, great fun. It is a fairly short game, so we play it before a longer game such as monopoly or similar to get us in the mood. My husband took it with him to a stag weekend and it was used in a drinking game style. It come in a tub so is easily transported. Good fun would definitely recommend it :)

Just a beautifully simple game that anyone can get involved with, as long as they don't mind the imagery of shambling corpses munching on brains.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, quick dice game, 20 Mar. 2014

Roll dice to get brains without getting shotguns. Each of the dice are red, yellow or green with more likely of getting brains or shotguns, so a bit of strategy knowing which dice are left - or just roll what you've got and have fun!

The dice come in a decent 'shaker' but larger hands (or even medium) might have difficulty (I tip the dice out then put back if I get too many, but you have to be honest). Think 'bisto' pot with a cool zombie wrapper! You'll need an extra paper+pencil to record scores.

Good for teaching the young-uns (2 under 10) about risk; risk another roll or hold what you have and risk someone else winning and odds (red are more likely to have shotguns), then there's another bit of strategy as the winner is decided at the end of the round, not as soon as someone gets 13.

Wouldn't recommend too many rounds in one sitting (2-3 max) but one to return to frequently to fill 5-10 mins.
