This album is truely incredible. Right from the start to the very last note you will get pulled in. This album is certainly by no means short of amazing riffs, solos and all round great guitar playing. Vocaly Phil is at his most versatile pulling off power metal type vocals to rough and gritty styles simular to that of the later part of their career. The drums are pounding and well used as well as basslines that complemet all of the guitar work perfectly. This is one of those rare CD's you will buy that will be timeless as it can be played over and over again and be just as enjoyable as the first time you heard it. If you like metal to drink to, do yourself a favour and buy this!

Well, this album has got to be the best album produced by pantera. Complete with amazing riffs and the amazing vocals of Phil Aslemo. theyre isnt a good song on the whole record as they are all amazing! any acclaimed metal fan should have it in their collection. highlights of the album would include 'cemetary gates' its mellow yet powerful lyrics can make the hairs on your arm stand on end! the lyrical content of this album is wonderful, this isnt an album ful of meaningless random words or phrases.it is a very talented masterpiece that will stay in your CD player for months on end.

This is definately Pantera's best album (yes, that's better than the incredibly overrated Vulgar Display Of Power). Every song is memorable in it's own way. Songs like Primal Concrete Sledge, Cemetry Gates and Message In Blood are fantastic and shows Dime's ability being pushed to the limit. The drumming is also fantastic on this album, Vinnie Paul is a legendary metal drummer!

Track ratings:

1. Cowboys From Hell - A fantastic opening track. Even my mother is able to get into the groove of this track!
Rating: 10/10

2. Primal Concrete Sledge - My second favourite track because of it's sheer energy and fantastic sound. A live favourite. This song gives you a good idea of what Pantera is all about!
Rating: 10/10

3. Psycho Holiday - Same as above, joint second favourite.
Rating: 10/10

4. Heresy - Good, but not as good as the first three, although this does contain some fantastic guitar and drum work. Phil's vocals on this song and basically the whole album are phenomical.
Rating: 9/10

5. Cemetry Gates - One of my favourite songs ever. Goes on a bit, but it's worth the wait!
Rating: Absolute Maximum!

6. Domination - Same as track 4. Generally, a good track. I love the intro!
Rating: 9.5/10

7. Shattered - See above. Same except better.
Rating: 10/10

8. Clash With Reality - I love this song, you will too!
Rating: 10/10

9. Medicine Man - Worst track on the album. Don't get it stuck in your head!
Rating: 8/10

10. Message In Blood - Fantastic chorus and solo! You will not be able to leave this track alone!
Rating: 10/10

11. The Sleep - This isn't a track that you will easily remember.
Rating: 8.5/10

12. The Art Of Shredding - Just listen to that drum line!!!
Rating: 10/10

Album overrall rating: 9.5/10
Could do with some improvements, but you're not going to find a better Pantera album. If you're just getting into them buy this first and then buy the Vulgar Display Of Power album.

buy, Buy, BUY!!!

Kicking off the album, Cowboy's From Hell will show you exactly what Pantera's all about. It's raw, its heavy and its brilliant. If you've never heard Pantera before, you'd probably do better to buy Vulgar Display Of Power but if you've already got that this is well worth buying.

Just about every inch of this album is amazing I need not say any more than that. It really does bridge the gap between 80's Thrash metal and the new groove type metal in the 90's. A must have for any metal fan.

I did actually have quite a significant problem though with the actual CD. I tried ripping it onto my computer with iTunes but the quality of the music once ripped was terrible. So after trying several different programs and computers to try and get it to work I finally ending up using my Playstation 3! I still haven't worked out why it wouldn't ripp or even play the music properly. It worked in ordinary CD players fine but computers just rejected it. I had ripped several CD's in the past without any problems but this particular one gave me problems.

Still this is no reason not to buy this album as its amazing.

prior to this pantera were a power rock group, their old fans must have fainted when they heard this while metal fans myself looked on with mouth open and shivers ripping through our spines until we collasped in pieces, this is when pantera became one of the fiercest bands in the world,in some ways cowboys from hell is one of the most vital albums in the metal genre, songs like 'primal cocrete sledge','cemetry gates' and 'heresy' are still so vital today, the band just rocked so intensely, over the following years the band developed into one mean machine, dimebag darell really started to develop his stunning guitar skills here, the band would get heavier over the years but here is one class metal album, the album has tons of killer groove and anselmos barks were sublime, this is the first stunning pantera album but certainly not the last

Check this out! The original Pantera album which is a true classic. Dimebags guitar sound and soloing on 'Physco Holiday' is just awesome. Also check out the title track bass-guitar solos at the end of this song.... Phil Anselmo has a god given voice which ranges from the screaming (Bruce Dickinson) heights of 'Shattered' to deep and menacing passages of 'Medicine Man'. This album is brutal yet beautiful as you are constantly reminded that Pantera are 'artists' in the truest sense...every song is original and well produced. You won't be dissappointed from the band that blew Metallica away!

This album is definitely their finest hour, as soon as you hear the opening riff on the title track, you know you're in for a great album. the guitar tone is pretty unique, and a little disorienting when you first encounter it, but it soon grows on you. phil anselmo's vocals, however, can grate pretty badly at times, and it can be very hard to understand the lyrics of the song, although that is almost indicative of metal in general. Overall, a great album, definitely worth a listen if you're doubtful about anything of quality coming out of the 90's.

The pant era classic album has some great songs including, cowboys from hell, primal concrete sledge and phycho holiday. If your a pantera fan, a metal album collector or just want to widen your metal knowledge with a great album then this product is the one for you you will not be disappointed. However non metal lovers and people whom are not fan of pantera this would be the worst product imaginable but then why would you consider buying it.
