4.0 out of 5 stars second half is live and is dating from the 2 x45 album era!!!!!!
What a surprise to me when I saw that the live part is from the "2 x45" album period. And it includes a version of "Jazz the Glass" under a new name. What a blessing!!!!!! So skip the first studio part, which is really worthless and enjoy the CV live at Sheffield during one of their glorious and still innovating times.

The first half was played out to a nil nil lethargy. The boys lacked any passion and although the passing in the mid field was fluid, there was not enough action around the penalty box, to raise the blood pressure one iota. If people want to operate a smooth oiled machine into constant repetition which also likes to "park the bus" then the first half of this opus will take you to that particular place. For me it sums up Chelsea's Mourinho lack of inspiration and ambition where the team simply files out and follows the instructions. It lacked soul, although it had enough foreign fancy imports of funky guitar and bass to suggest the gaze had been towards Chicago, Detroit and New York.

At half time, the manager must have given them a serious talking to, because it was a different outfit who turned up - a bunch of mavericks wilfully experimenting and showboating an abrasive skill. Harsh dissonant noise last heard on early PIL, linked to early Pop Group vied for my attention, a throwback to the excellent sides of the 70's who lacked the technical ability but more than made up for it in a vertical drop of the imagination. The only foreign fancy import left the field at half time as this concentrated on the dank red brick chimney smoke of Sheffield along with some inspiration from Dusseldorf and Berlin.

So two stars for the first and five for the second making it 4 in all.

If they come back I hope they attempt their winning formation rather than try to emulate the period when they were less experimental.

i dont think anyone who knows the cabs would deny they have a unique sound
but what i had in front of me not only was it not an album but a cd single
by a ger,man singer called HANSI SUSSENBACH titled DU HAST MICH VOLL ERWISCHT
now my german isnt that good but i sure as hell know that it does not translate to CABARET VOLTAIRE DRAIN TRAIN /PRESSURE COMPANY
theres not enough letters for a start lol admittedly the company refunded my money without question but what i find alarming is that it is still on sale this time with a picture of the german dude but listed as the cabs album
now come people its not rocket science is it THE CABS HANSI SUSSENBACH see the difference in the spelling
