RAVEN'S GATE

This is the first of many books in the power of five and the series explodes into a world of horror and suspense. A 14 year old boy called Matt is thrown into a world filled with death and twists. His life takes a wrong turn when he was arrested for a crime he didn't commit. He is then taken to a foster home and his new carer is extremely scary and she really is one evil person. There isn't a huge flood of gore, body parts and heads flying, although this isn't really a book for the squemish. The books ends with a decent amount of twists and turns and ends with a great cliff hanger. During the book, Matt descvers a hidden power that's dying to get out. This is a fabulous start to the series.

EVIL STAR

The second in the power of five series is probably not as good as the first. It is still very good but it doesn't really have a fantasy sory line and i drifted off it during the jouney up the mountain. It has more action and fighting in than the first. Here, Matt meets the second gatekeeper and joins forces with a violent tribe and a proffessor. The story takes place in peru where there is suposed to be a second gate. There is a huge amount of action in it. Gunfights, fist fights and knife fights. When it comes to violence and action, Evil Star is at the top of my list...that is so far.

NIGHTRISE

Did i just say Evil Star has the most action in it? Oh, sorry, i ment Nightrise is. Fantsy is given a whole other meaning in the third installment of the POF series. There are three worlds in this book: the world we live in; the dream world; and the world 10,000 years ago. The book revolves around two twins Jamie and Scott Tyler. They find they both have the same extrordinary powers. When Scott gets kidnapped by the sinster agency Nightrise, Jamie needs to unleash all his potential to get him back. Suddenly, Jamie is transported 10,000 years back and has to face the old ones when they rulled the earth for the first time and when the people where about to strike a counter strike against the dark gods. Jamie must defeat the gods and he learns a great advantage that the gatekeepers have. This is my favourite book of the four so far. It doesn't have as much suspense as the others but it has more action to make up for it. It has lots of blood and guts and belive me: the second you put this book down you will say; "Wow!"

NECROPOLIS

Suspense, violence, destiny and a cliffhanger you wouldn't guess if it slammed a door in your face. What more could you expect from a book in a series as good as the POF series. This book is based around a young girl, Scarlett Adams
and also Matt trying to find her. The two of them, separated from the others are trapped in a dying city, a Necropolis. Trying to get out whilst finding the others Scarlett descovers her very mistakenly underesttermated power. This is a typical Anthony Horowitz masterpiece

This is one fantastic series that will soon be one of the most praised books in the world!!!!!!!

I bought this as a present for my grandson who is an avid reader, and he loved them, partly because he had not come across them before. I like this author myself so I was pleased to share this with my grandson.

I bought these as a present for my 10 year old son. He really enjoyed them and asked if he could buy Oblivion (the 5th and final book in the series) with his birthday money.

was unaware that these were aimed at teenagers, although good enough for that age group, to simplistic and lacks depth for adult reading, IMO.

Got to me far quicker than expected. As always, loved the books. Good storyline. Just wish they didn't end on a cliff hanger.
