This is from the John Pertwee era of Doctor Who, he and Tom Baker were my favourite Doctors. This story also features the brilliant Roger Delgardo as The Master and Katy Manning as The Doctor's companion Jo.
There's also a birdman and the lost city of Atlantis. This is from before the days of CGI, so the effects are a bit hit and miss. The acting though, as with other series from the same decade, like Blake's 7, is impressive..

Not a DOCTOR WHO STORY with a great reputation, this one, but I found myself enjoying it more than I expected.
The story's quite quirky & original, and Katy Manning in particular seems on very good form. She has some excellent, quite touching dialogue towards the end.
This was the last story to feature the Third Doctor, Jo Grant, the UNIT characters and The Master in the same story.
Roger Delgado's Master shows a new and rare side to his machinations when he tries it on with the Queen of Atlantis!
Like many six-parters it's too long, sagging round about episode 3, but coming to life again when the long overdue trip to Atlantis finally takes place.
The special effects, unfortunately have not stood the test of time (!) very well, but according to producer Berry Letts, he wasn't pleased with them back in 1972.
The extra features are nothing special.
