5.0 out of 5 stars Pacino's finest hour

English dubbing is very poor and they have left the Spanish on - so it is impossible to watch!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pacino's finest hour, 4 July 2011
Jack Kevorkian died in June and one of the most courageous, contraversial and misunderstood heroes of modern time went without a whisper. This film goes some way to filling the hole in contemporary history. Pacino is convincing, and absolutely true to the film footage I have seen of Kevorkian, taking on his tiniest mannerisms and tics. Pacino's commitment to this role is demonstrated by his dramatic weightloss which Bale and DeNiro would be proud of. You can't watch this film and not be moved and disturbed. It doesn't preach, it doesn't take a stand on assisted suicide euthanasia, it is what it is, and unlike most Hollywood c**p it makes you think it out yourself. Watch this film before you die.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pacino Outdoes Himself, 20 Oct. 2011
By
Thomas Edwards (Copenhagen, Denmark) - See all my reviews
So this is the kinda movie where it takes a special actor to draw the viewer in. Not only did Pacino draw me in - he kept me glued to the screen since his very first line - to the last one, 130 glorious minutes later.

The matter at hand, the question about doctor-assisted suicide is very heavy, so who better to direct it than Barry Levinson? Nobody. I'm just very surprised that people like Levinson, Pacino, Susan Sarandon and John Goodman would do a tv-movie. I'm thankful that they did, because this is a story that needed to be told - although I have one issue with the movie. Among all of the people who said no, and who was opposed Jack in what he thought was common sense, why was none of his bad-wishers intellectual thoughtful people? They were depicted as religious nuts, and as many of those as there may be in real life also, I wish Levinson would have given us some normal pro-life people, instead of tossing a load of crazyness in our face.

Those who loved "The People vs Larry Flynt" 15 years ago, will probably also like this movie, although here the courtroom antics and background of the same being toned down just a bit.

A good way to sum up this movie is that it is one of those where you keep looking at the time - but in this case it's because you never want it to end - Pacino has you hooked.

The movie raises a good question. Al Pacino does a great job in portraying the controversial figure of Jack Kevorkian. Well worth watching.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moving film of a man taking effect in tough human situations, 5 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The story of the film is very close to the real story of Dr. Jack Kevorkian. However, the story is concentrated, resulting in an exciting and thrilling film. The actors are choosen very well. Nevertheless it is a pity that there is no syncronised version available. Even a non-native speaker can understand the actors well. The scenes at the close of the life are made very sentimentally.

In a nutshell: A moving film of a man to take effect in tough human situations.

Some great acting from Pacino and Sarandon, and brings to light a very sensitive subject.
Makes you think about a very split issue.
