There can't be many better live bands around than Govt Mule, especially when they have a host of guests like Derek Trucks, Marc Ford, Randall Bramlett amongst others. This album is superb and covers such a range of genres. The Mule play some of their own songs like the thundrous opener 'Thorazine Shuffle', 'The Mule' and 'Soulshine' but even better are covers of Sabbath's 'War Pigs', Free's 'Mr. Big', Humble Pie's '30 Days in The Hole', Traffic's 'Sad and Deep as You' and Neil Young's 'Cortez the Killer' and more. A stunning album that makes you wish you were there. Warren Haynes is a superb guitarist and a more than adequate vocalist.

End to end sublime live rock from a small venue on a New Year`s eve - not a duff track to be found. Gov`t Mule are joined by southern rock luminaries such as Derek Trucks & Chuck Leavell on the first disc & their love of early 70s British rock is all over it - Sabbath`s War Pigs (an unexpected delight) & a phenomenal, crunching version of Free`s Mr Big. 30 Days In The Hole & Look Over Yonder Wall are weapons grade guitar workouts. Warren`s not afraid to stick his neck out - Neil Young`s Cortez The Killer is a standout track on the second disc, which features some fine jamming. I love live albums & this is in my top 3. Fantastic

Don't ask, just buy Gov't Mule.
If you enjoy the Allmans, you'll love this.
If you hate the Allmans, you'll love this.
If you never heard of the Allmans, you'll love this.
If you just like quality musicianship a la old fashioned way - you'll love this

It's Government Mule. Proper rock and blues. Great musicians, good stuff. Great guests. Mainman ex-Allman Brothers. Say no more. Exceptional. I'm a fan. Would you have guessed?

Just what the doctor ordered, Gov't Mule at their best, free flowing improvisation with a great cast of musicians highly recommended.
