TOP 50 REVIEWERon 7 September 2011
Kip Stanton has just moved into his new house. Whilst out front picking up his newspaper he sees his next door neighbour a cute redhead, Cody Lang introduces herself to the new handsome neighbour, after finding out that he is single and unattached , she asks him for his help, she has told her Father that she has married, something her Father was keen for her to do. Cody does not want to get married but her Father is sick, but that has now backfired as he is coming to visit to meet her new husband. Kip at first thinks that she has recognised him and is trying to set him up. That would not be unusual he is a famous actor, but he cannot see any signs of recognition in Cody's eyes or her manner, maybe she is just crazy.
This is a short romantic story amusing in parts, nothing heavy just a light read. It was quite well written.

Romance that full of good humour it had me laughing through out. Kip is tired of his life and been famous is starting to become a drag. When he meets Cody who is a slightly crazy but funny women who asks him to pretend to be her husband he says yes. But as he starts to fall in love he realises he may have told to many lies for her to forgive him so they can be together.

This was a freebie that I would have actually been happy to pay for. It was short, sexy, funny, warm and had a HEA that was at least a year down the line from when the leads got together properly, which made it all the more satisfying.

It is a seen-before tale in that a couple who barely know each other pretend to be married because of a well-intentioned lie. She, Cody, proposes marriage to a stranger, just because he happens to be her new neighbour, therefore convenient, and also as he's single, and therefore fits the bill. She has to pretend to be married, as her father is dying and she's told him she is married, so he won't worry about her.

He, Kip, is an actor who is incognito, wanting a break from fame and the limelight, and he's happy to go along with the plan, as he is attracted to Cody. But, whilst he's deceiving Cody as to his true identity, yet at the same time helping Cody deceive her dad, Cody's dad has been deceiving her, and of course, things start to unravel.

Yes, they are sussed out and both get a bit humpy with each other before they both realise that they are equally at fault, but in amongst the pretending, there's a real attraction (they even manage some hot foreplay, having known each other for about 24hrs!), there is humour (her BFF who susses out who Kip is, Kip himself, macho hunk being terrified of dogs, including Cody's loveable labrador), they fake wedding pictures with several kissing shots, and there is a HEA with a believable ending.

Overall, not the intense, hot, steamy romances that I go for, but a very easy and worthwhile read. One that will stay on my Kindle and be re-read.

Despite a cliched plot this is actually quite an enjoyable read. No one really pretends to be married when they are not just to please their father and no one really agrees to be part of the deception for a next door neighbour no matter how pretty she is but if you suspend your disbelief then this is fun and well enough written with some engaging characters.

I found myself enjoying it, despite knowing that the plot was ludicrous, and recommend it if you are looking for a quick, light, undemanding read.

I like good romance novels but this short story was so silly I really didn't like it. The actor wasn't at all believable and the whole situation of the fake marriage because of her father was slightly ridiculous. First of all who would do such thing for a stranger? Dye the hair and eyebrows and behave like a couple because of a supposed illness? The plot was too forced and the ridiculous ideas of the female protagonist are not at all romantic, just unbelievably annoying!! I wasted a few hours of my life reading this. Shame I can't have them back and read something better!

An enjoyable read that has been added to the 'To re-read' collection on my Kindle, a rarity for me when it comes to romances with sex scenes. The author manages to weave them into the story so that they don't break the flow.

This was quite an entertaining read, very quick to get through, the story is ok, but could have been longer and had more substance to it.
