Ok but not knife-proof for some blades & rubber trim absorbs some stains.
on 21 March 2014
The main reason I purchased this board along with 2 others in the same range, is because I wanted a non-toxic and cut-proof surface which was warp-resistant in the hot wash of my dishwasher. I considered any additional advantages, such as non-slip properties and coloured differentiation helpful, but not my highest priorities.
To begin with, I was pleased with the boards, as the surface seemed more resilient to knife marks than others I have owned, they also keep their shape well in the dishwasher (I have had some that don't but my current board is fine in that respect). However, when I used a very sharp knife, e.g. to chop meat, this did leave cut marks, so they are not knife-proof to my sharper blades. In addition, the rubber trim has the disadvantage of being susceptible to stains - as I found after I washed the blue board for the first time (in the dishwasher) and had to use a stain remover to get it out.
The boards are considerably more expensive than most rival boards of this type and for me, the only advantages it has over my usual board, except for it having a slightly more resilient surface, is the non-slip trim and colour trim. However, I do not think these aspects justify the extra cost (particularly as I found alternative means of providing myself with such features at low cost, e.g. a damp tea towel to help grip and different coloured string on the handle to help identification). In addition, the board I usually buy, which normally needs replacing after a few months, only costs about one third the cost of this one - and I can buy several of them over a period of time for the same cost of this one board. For this reason, I have rated the product about average 3 stars. I doubt I would buy them again.
