Survivor series 2001

European championship Christian vs Al Snow

Christian, even at this stage of his career, is one of the best in the business and it's a shame he never really received a main event push but this is some of his best work and gives a great match against Snow. 7/10

William Regal vs Tajiri

Average match with reasonable build up, Regal is a great mic worker. 6/10

Intercontinental and U.S unification match - Test vs Edge

Great match with twists turns, big boots, spears and Edge again showing why he is now a main event superstar. 8/10

Steel cage unification match WCW vs WWF tag titles - The Dudley Boys vs The Hardys

Great match involving two great tag teams and there is one reason this is memorable and that reason is Jeff Hardy. What a nutter, but by what a reason to watch. 9/10

22 immunity battle royal

Considering this has 22 wrestlers in it is over in such a short space of time, probably cause commentator Paul Hayman is moaning about Tazz. Eventual winner is hardly surprising 5/10

Women's championship - Trish vs Jacqueline vs Lita vs Mighty Molly vs Jazz vs Ivory

One of the better women wrestling matches from this period and a good deserving ending to the eventual winner 7/10

Winner take all traditional survivor series match

Shane McMahon, Booker T, RVD, Stone Cold, Angle
vs
Kane, Y2J, Rock, Undertaker, Big Show

Great match that brought an end to the Invasion story that could not have had a better send off. Up and down, twists and turns, controversies an ace in the hole this elimination match had everything but the kitchen sink. Jericho's finishing move here is silly and Shane is annoying but otherwise what an ending to a very good PPV 10/10

Vengeance 2001
Scotty 2 Hotty and Albert vs Test and Christian

Good opening but it is exceptionally hard to take Albert dancing seriously. 7/10

Intercontinental title - Edge vs William Regal

Good match with great build up, Regal again an underused superstar of mic and matt capability. Shame about the ending 8/10

Jeff Hardy vs Matt hardy

Two mega stars battling seemed awkward for fans as matt was doing a partial heel turn here. Because of this awkward brother vs brother and Lita as referee it didn't feel right and there were great moves and a controversial ending

Tag team titles Dudleys vs Show and Kane

Good match that was won a ridiculous way, great comedy here from the watching Stacy Keibler 7/10

Hardcore championship RVD vs Undertaker

A very, very good match that went through the audiences and ended in breaking fashion. Seeing Undertaker as a somewhat villain character, and not the good kind, is strange 8/10

Women's championship Trish vs Jacqueline

Good match over fairly quickly 6/10

Stone Cold vs Angle

Good match with great rivalry that went outside the ring numerous times contained some great moves and twists 9/10

Rock vs Y2J

This Jericho villain character is terrible and whilst the guy can still do the moves this was a stretch. Rock delivers great set ups and with a big shout and controversy this topped its predecessor to set up the final for the undisputed championship

Winners of last two matches face off for undisputed championship

Great match and great controversy to round off the PPV with the new undisputed champion.

These are two great PPVs with the end of the invasion and the dawn of the undisputed championship with memories to last many years

9/10

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Set., 25 Jan 2013
This review is from: WWE - Survivor Series 2001 & Vengeance 2001 [DVD] (DVD)
This is my first WWE related product review in a fair while now. The two events being reviewed are Survivor Series 2001 and Vengeance 2001. I picked this Tagged Classics set up yesterday and watched Survivor Series last night. I have just finished watching Vengeance now. Overall, these two events are pretty good. However, it is also fair to say that they are historical, in the sense that Survivor Series was the end of 'The Alliance/Invasion' storyline and Vengeance sees the first ever 'Undisputed Champion'. So, without further ado, here's the full story:

SURVIVOR SERIES 2001.

The first match is a European Title match featuring Christian and Al Snow. Overall, this is a slow opener, with plenty of near-falls. Nice win for Christian though.

William Regal vs. Tajiri. This match is fast-paced and all Tajiri, that is, until Regal picks up the victory rather suddenly.

In a U.S./Intercontinental Title Unification match, Edge takes on Test. Overall, this is a pretty good match. Test brings his size and power to the table, while Edge is small and quick. The match is all Test, but does pick up towards the end as both men execute their signature moves and there's plenty of near-falls. Nice win for the victor here.

The Hardy Boyz face The Dudley Boyz in a Steel Cage for the Unified Tag Team titles. This match is a real throwback to the old days - the Hardys vs. The Dudleys. Anyhow, this match is all Dudleys. Towards the end, the Hardys do gain some momentum, that is, until one makes a pathetic error. A bad match overall, thanks to that.

Next is a 22 Man Immunity Battle Royal. The stipulation is that whoever wins here cannot be fired for a year. As is customary here, this match is chaos - bodies everywhere and general mayhem. However, despite this, an event occurs backstage prior to the match that upsets the whole thing.

In a Six Pack Challenge WWF Women's Championship match, Trish Stratus takes on Jacqueline, Ivory, Lita, Molly and Jazz. Overall, this is a quick match and the right woman wins.

Finally, it is a Winner Take All 'Survivor Series Elimination' Match. Team WWF (Big Show, Kane, The Undertaker, Chris Jericho and The Rock) vs. Team WCW (Shane McMahon, Booker T, Kurt Angle, Rob Van Dam and Stone Cold Steve Austin). This match starts off slowly and it's no surprise that Big Show is eliminated first (all those millions spent, eh Vince?!). Shane McMahon, a non worker, is eliminated soon after. The match then quickly descends into chaos, as Van Dam eliminates Kane. Shortly after this, Undertaker is pinned. That leaves The Rock and Chris Jericho alone for Team WWF. As Jericho is down, The Rock fights alone and eliminates Booker T. Jericho soon re-enters the match and dominates Van Dam, eliminating him. Kurt Angle is next eliminated, tapping to Jericho. Now, Stone Cold Steve Austin fights alone for Team WCW. As he enters the match, he eliminates Jericho rather easily. Anyhow, the match really picks up here because it leaves The Rock and Stone Cold alone - again. Despite Jericho trying to 'screw' The WWF (he fails), The Rock and Stone Cold are left to battle it out. Both men give it their all, resulting in yet another Moment for these two men. However, Kurt Angle 'screws' The Alliance, leaving The Rock to pin for the win. This means that The WWF got rid of The Alliance, bringing an end to a storyline that dominated 2001, arguably. There is a great moment here at the end though.

Overall, Survivor Series 2001 wasn't a bad event. However, I wouldn't be in a rush to watch it in full again and therein lies the problem. The moment at the end (The WWF beating The Alliance) makes it all worthwhile, but that's all I would come back to this event for. Anyhow, the special features from this event are good - you get highlights from the next night on Raw. Here's a hint: WOOOOOOOO!!!! There's also 'A Look at Edge' featurette.

VENGEANCE 2001.

The opener sees Scotty 2 Hotty and Albert take on Test and Christian. All round, this is a very good opener. Scotty spends a lot of time isolated, but both he and Albert work very well towards the end. Good match and a nice win here. (It is very hard to take Albert dancing seriously)

In an Intercontinental Title match, Edge takes on William Regal. This is a slow, but good match. It is all Regal mostly, who fights expertly. However, those who sell it short pay the price...

Matt and Jeff Hardy face off and Lita is the special guest referee. All round, this is an ok match, typical Brother vs. Brother stuff. For a start, Jeff injures his leg, meaning that the match is a bit slower than expected. However, it is an ok match with a good result.

The Dudley Boyz face Kane and The Big Show. This is a very good, fast-paced Tag Team match and both teams work very well. All round, the right team wins here.

The Undertaker faces Rob Van Dam in a Hardcore match. This is a classic match, the best of the night for me - with hindsight. Rob Van Dam adopts his signature style, while The Undertaker is arguably more experienced. This is a classic Hardcore match with good use of weapons, some nice footage in the crowd, a storage area, on the Titantron - the lot. A great match and a pretty good result for the victor.

Trish Stratus takes on Jacqueline. This is card filler mostly, but a good result for the winner.

Kurt Angle takes on Stone Cold Steve Austin for the WWF Championship. This is a pretty good, but slow match. Both men give it their all, plenty of near-falls all round. The winner is well-deserved here, frankly.

Chris Jericho takes on The Rock then for the World Championship. This match is rather good, but again, is pretty slow. However, it proves that Chris Jericho had 'talent', despite being cocky and a loudmouth. It is all ruined, however, by a silly interference. I do hate it when that happens.

Anyhow, Stone Cold Steve Austin fights Chris Jericho for the Undisputed Championship. This match is ok; both men have their moments. It is also historic as, like him or not, Chris Jericho becomes the first ever Undisputed Champion... with a little help from Vince McMahon and Booker T.

Overall, Vengeance 2001 was a very good event and one that I would watch in full again.

To conclude, this Tagged Classics set is pretty good. You get two events - Survivor Series and Vengeance 2001. Both events are historical - Survivor Series sees the last of The Alliance (and Paul Heyman on commentary, thank God!), while Vengeance sees Chris Jericho become the first ever Undisputed Champion, a feat that, arguably, pushed him to the Main Event status he enjoys today, when he's around and not touring with his band, that is! Either way, a pretty good set and two good, historical events.

Buy it.

Thanks for reading this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Survivor Series 2001 - Legendary PPV, 12 July 2010

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: WWE - Survivor Series 2001 & Vengeance 2001 [DVD] (DVD)
2000 and 2001 were the best years in wrestling. Period.

The Survivor Series 2001 put an end to the crazy WCW/ECW Alliance storyline. The storyline has since got a bad reputation since it omitted the best from WCW (Ric Flair, NWO, Goldberg, Sting....but in fairness the members of NWO and Ric Flair had their best days before joining WCW). However, this storyline was the most exciting time in wrestling. After the Alliance, we had the return of NWO and the match between Hulk Hogan and The Rock........but after that, the wrestling business went downhill........to the point it is right now!!!!!

Back to this SS2001 PPV.......in one word, Exciting!!!!!! It was so spontaneous, and viewers were really bothered if the team WWF won or lost. For the time of the PPV, you wouldn't remember the fact that this is all scripted, it felt so REAL. From the moment the PPV started, you could feel the electricity in the arena.

Matches:
1.) Christian Vs Al Snow
2.) William Regal Vs Tajiri
3.) Unification of IC Title and US Title: Test Vs Edge
4.) Steel Cage for unification of WCW and WWF Tag Titles: Dudley Boyz Vs Hardy Boyz
5.) 22 Man Battle Royal for Immunity
6.) Six-Way for Women's Champ Title: Trish Status Vs Jacqueline Vs lita Vs Ivory Vs Mighty Molly Vs Jazz
Main Event
7.) 5 Man Elimination Match:
Shane McMahon, Booker T, Rob Van Dam, Kurt Angle, Stone Cold Steve Austin
Vs
Big Show, Kane, The Undertaker, Chris Jericho, The Rock

The Main event itself is worth a 5-Star Rating. It doesn't contain any crazy bumps but the wrestlers were on top form.

The Vengeance PPV was the unification of the two biggest Titles in the Wrestling business; The WWF and WCW Heavyweight Championships. Good PPV and an Historic PPV............but this was the moment the business started going downhill.

Overall, the Survivor Series PPV is worth twice the price of this set.

This was the time when wrestling wasn't predictable (unlike today's rubbish)........BUY IT, you won't regret it!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars End of an Era but finished off with a new Undisputed Champion, 4 Jun 2010

This review is from: WWE - Survivor Series 2001 & Vengeance 2001 [DVD] (DVD)
Both Survivor Series 2001 and Vengeance 2001 are two of my favourite WWF PPV's from the year 2001. Survivor Series 2001 will be remembered as the final encounter for Team WCW/ECW against Team WWF in a classic five on five elimination tag match. The Team WCW/ECW vs Team WWF was my match of the night as both teams had their fair amount of pure domination, with the outcome of Team WWF coming out on top. Vengeance 2001 will be most remembered for the crowning of a new Undisputed Champion and his name is Y2J. Y2J beat the Rock to become the new World Heavyweight Champion and then he moved onto beating Stone Cold Steve Austin, to become the new WWF Champion. I have to say that Y2J is the best in the world at what he does and he showed why he is that damn good. I am going to give Survivor Series a **** and Vengeance a *****.
