5.0 out of 5 stars Great drama-thriller
An exploration of disturbed and dangerous youth, a great indipendent film with top performances by all actors. If you are after a Russell Crowe action epic this is isn't it but as an engaging drama exploring the consequences of emotional damage with a change to see some new faces this is an excellent film.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
This is yet another case of 'Don't be fooled by the trailer'.

We expected a taut, gripping thriller, as Russell Crowe tracks down a recently released 18 year old serial killer who's taking off with a bored, depressed teenage girl who's got a morbid interest in him.

This is yet another case of 'Don't be fooled by the trailer'.

We expected a taut, gripping thriller, as Russell Crowe tracks down a recently released 18 year old serial killer who's taking off with a bored, depressed teenage girl who's got a morbid interest in him.

It starts slowly but quite promisingly, only to drift into scene after scene of 'pursuit' and escape, with no explanation as to why Crowe's cop character can just wonder around on a private cause.

Crowe is barely on screen either, and while he can be an irritating, mumbling screen presence at least he HAS presence, and potentially his character might have had a story worth telling. It's more of a big name cameo, while the plot is driven by the young actors. Jon Foster is ok as the psycho-killer but you're supposed to feel some sympathy for his tag-along wannabe girlfriend who's just one wrong move away from a nasty end and I found her just totally annoying. Whether she's meant to be annoying, and therefore was well-acted, I'm not sure.

Clearly in dangerous company but she doesn't realise it - or does she? We ended up playing Cluedo with some scenes. In the trailer with the revolver? On the lake with a paddle? In the motel with a pillow?

A very disappointing would-be thriller, a waste of their time and mine.

This is perhaps better viewed on DVD or as a television adaptation. It is very low key, no sceaming car tyres, or frantic scenes of crimes, but a disturbing storyline. I found it compelling viewing, I'm not sure who was predator or prey, or do victims cause their deaths through their own actions, or because of fate. The acting is uniformally excellent.

well a lot of diffrent stories that come close to this one were told with more effects. This one is a blast in the end - a real twist if you ask me one of the best performances of Jon Foster. Brilliant.

2.0 out of 5 stars Close to deception !!, 4 July 2010

The storyline are relevant...."Can murder ever be forgiven after the sentence have been served??"...but the movie are very predictable. No twists or turns, and it get a little bit boring along the way.

So far so good.

The young actors in the leading roles are unknown to me, but they do their best...but as a Russel Crowe fan I was sadly disappointed. He's on the screen for 10 to 15 minutes ...but the marketing leads us to believe otherwise. That's deception !!
