This review is from: Canon IXUS 105 Digital Camera - Brown (12.1 MP, 4x Optical Zoom) 2.7 Inch PureColor LCD (Electronics)
I got this camera to replace my older Powershot A560. That was a great camera, but I wanted something more pocket-sized so I'd be more likely to take it out. I'm a D-SLR user, so a few features of the IXUS 105 were important to me. The wide-angle lens was the biggest selling feature. I enjoy landscape and street photography and I'm used to the 18mm wide-angle I have on my Nikon D60, so having a wide-angle on my compact is equally important. Also great when taking self-portraits of the girlfriend and I, we still get loads of background in.One great feature that's carried over from my previous camera is the Long Shutter mode. This allows you to get longs exposures between 1 and 15 seconds. This certainly isn't for handheld photography, but it allows you to get some great fireworks shots, smooth the surface of water, and other creative ideas. Video quality is ok. Nothing to rave about, but there if/when you need it. Photo quality is great. Not as good as I'm used to seeing on my D-SLR, but I wouldn't expect that. If it wasn't just a "convenience" camera to me, I would've opted for a higher end model with manual controls. But for the average person who just wants to take great photos with minimal fuss, this is a great option. It's a very compact size, sits discreetly in your pocket, battery life has been excellent so far, and it's extremely easy to navigate the menu system. The button layout makes perfect sense, and the switch to go from Video-Photo-Auto illustrates how straight-forward this camera was designed to be. Comparatively priced cameras from other brands will probably give you HD video functions. You'll have to decide yourself if that is reason enough to forgo this well-made, easy to use, high quality image-taking camera. The brown colour is awesome too....that was actually probably the second most appealing thing about it!

Cheap, tidy little camera,
This review is from: Canon IXUS 105 Digital Camera - Brown (12.1 MP, 4x Optical Zoom) 2.7 Inch PureColor LCD (Electronics)
I bought this as my friend has an older version, this was just the current version and recommend it. Really easy to use and featured in Pc-Pro A-list which I take to be a really good rule of thumb as these guys really do geek all over everything IT.The menus are really simple and I've given it to girls for the weekend who openly admit to not being good with IT, but when I show them tne menu has 4 different picture modes with easy to read icons ranging from kids and pets - action Moon with the Eiffel Tower - Night time well you get the idea, its pretty straight forward isn't it! So if you want a fun, easy to use little camera then this is it. (I'd even go so far to say that I've had phones bigger than it - yes that includes my old N95!)

Am happy with this camera but do find it can be slow to capture an image & then go back to the screen. I bought it to have a camera I can have with me everywhere to capture my 12month old, I do find it a bit slow & I end up missing the moment or capturing it as she goes & does something else which is really frustrating..Size is great & picture quality is good.

JUST FAB!!!,

this camera is great! it arrived to me this morning and this afternoon i've been going round the garden taking some fab photos. the change from Auto to self program helps with getting graphic close ups! and the change of apature is manual so its a real added bonus as you dont get that on most digital cameras.this camera is a great especailly since my old digital camera was so awful. it was a Casio that was just 2 years old and the anti-shake never worked and the pictures were way to exposed when using the flash yet this camera just blends with your setting without any fuss!!! so im so looking forward to nights out, holidays and outtings with this little baby without lugging my DSLR around all the time.

I couldn't be happier with this camera and it's for that reason that I have been prompted to write a review. I've had a Canon camera before and really like the make so when I was looking for a new one it seemed an obvious choice. I wanted to buy a camera with little fuss and bother that would take good photographs and this does exactly that. I've only had it three days and thus far have only needed to use the auto function - the photos are clear, well focused and good quality and I haven't needed to do a thing! If you're looking for a point and click camera then this is for you. And it's pink.

After searching around this was the best deal by a long way plus the added attraction of a free leather camera case. What you do need to buy is a sd memory card.I needed a upgrade and this fits the bill perfectly,it's a straight forward point and shoot camera,I've now had this camera for the past month and have got on with it really well plus I'm learning and experimenting taking better photos, recommended.Delivery was earlier than expected so that was a bonus as well.

IXUS 105 Bad News For Me - but good pictures,

This review is from: Canon IXUS 105 Digital Camera - Silver (12.1 MP, 4x Optical Zoom) 2.7 Inch PureColor LCD (Electronics)
Bought one for a present in early 2011 and had a problem with the slideshow feature not working and simply crashing/turning off the camera when selected.Returned to amazon and true to form they sent a replacement even before I had returned the faulty one, great service from them, but unfortunately the replacement had exactly the same problem. Rather than just return again I contacted Canon support on phone to be told return to them for repair (at my own cost). Only had it in my hands one day and being asked to send for repair, no reason from them as to why it could be happening. In a final attempt at keeping the replacement and maybe fixing the software issue with a firmware update or something I contacted Canon e mail help, will wait to hear. Otherwise it will be a return to Amazon and a refund. Which is free of charge of course. Move to another model. The pictures were very good with the camera but as the slide show feature wasn't working I couldn't view anything on my tv (cable supplied) or even flick through the pictures manually on the TV screen. Just guess it was a million to one shot and I got unlucky - two brand new sealed cameras with the same fault all in a matter of days. Has anyone else had this fault -I can't find anything on anywhere about the issue I have had? I don't dare ask for another replacement, knowing my luck and all.....!

I wanted to get a Canon Ixus 95 (having read a very detailed and informative review by GE Hearn) but it was too expensive on the Amazon France site. I opted instead for the 105.I received it a few days ago and quite like it. I first bought a Canon Ixus in 2003 (can't remember the model number) and while the newer models are lighter, smaller and with larger screens, they feel much more fragile and flimsy than the older models. This aside, it is simple to use and has a lovely big screen (2.7 inches). One gripe is the button/switch that allows you to change between video and photo mode. It already wobbles and looks like it might fall off at any point soon.

Delivery and everything was fine, but the image quality of the camera was not as described by some users. in a good lighting conditions its ok but when there is a lack of light, quality goes from average to poor.

I've owned this camera since March 2010 and pleased to say it's a great little camera, I bought it as back-up to my Cannon DLSR but to be honest its taking pictures of the same quality without the bother of carrying such a big camera around.Easy to use and robust, mine been knocked about a bit on holidays and showing some war wounds but still working perfectly. Great battery life and nice LCD size. Suggest you use an 8gb SD card as this will keep up with your picture taking and the cameras battery life. Happy snapping |
