4.0 out of 5 stars Nikon L110 in laymans terms
Great camera for the price - I keep it in the car for days when I have'nt got my D/slr with me

+ = My main like is that because of its design it similar to a small version of a D/SLR making it easy to grip
It's also small/light with a good lens and focal length producing vibrant colours and good allround image quality.

Great camera for the price - I keep it in the car for days when I have'nt got my D/slr with me

+ = My main like is that because of its design it similar to a small version of a D/SLR making it easy to grip
It's also small/light with a good lens and focal length producing vibrant colours and good allround image quality.

Easy to use for beginers - point & shoot and good range of preset modes with good documentation
There are a range of white balance and ISO options with a handy d/lighting system if you want to get serious.
Personaly it's a fun camera for those instant photo/video moments which if set up correctly can yield excellent results.

Great resolution LCD screen - easy to see and the 720 HD video function is good if you've got a steady hand

- = My main dislike is that the Pop up flash is manual - so it's easy to forget to use it
Not fantastic in low light & must use flash indoors
Stereo microphones for video tend to pick up a lot of noise when outside - wind etc
Extended digital zoom hard to focus, need to use tripod (my advice is stick to the lens zoom capability)
Need to buy a set of fast re-chargeable batteries (about £25-30) with charger

All in all a great little package - Brilliant price & features compared to the competition and can give excellent results with a little practice 8/10
Would be 9/10 if pop-up flash was automatic (but that would make it more expensive)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great camera!, 8 Jun 2010
I brought this camera to use when i dont want to lug my SLR around. I shopped around and found a lot of camearas with simialr specs, which only highlighted the fact that for this price you wont find much better value for money. I go to a lot of music concerts so wanted a great zoom to get good pics no matter where my seat is. Went to a gigi last night and took some excellent images. The video quality is excellent as well. From what i looked at you need to spend at least another £70-£100 to get a better camera and most of them are only an 18x Zoom.
I thoroughly recommend this camera!!!

The Nikon L110 digital camera is a well-made product that does everything it says, and well. BUT, I have a couple of wafer-thin digitial pocket-size cameras and wanted THIS product as a quality camera for those special portraits and jobs. In my dreams I hoped it was a smaller version of the £400 jobs, but it is really a larger version of the ones I already have. HOWEVER in cine mode it IS good and the picture quality also is. I was just hoping I would get a metal-cased mini of the master, and I received a plastic bodied larger copy of what I had. Good but not outstanding.

Initially struggled to take decent photos until I experimented with the settings and realised that I actually got better results if I turned off the vibration reduction and motion sensor bells and whistles that come with this camera! And yet the very prupose of these features is to take better pictures :-) Unless I clearly missed a trick in the instructions, my first photos when I took the camera out of the box were horrible, and were no match for even my Nokia 5800 mobile phone pictures (honestly!)so much that I was tempted to return the camera.

After experimenting with the settings for a while I finally got the gist of this item and I would happily recommend it for any amateur photographers with 3.5 out of 5 star rating. The zoom is amazing. Have taken a few zoomed in close up shots at distances of close to 50- 60 metres with amazing clarity. Takes good videos too.

It is also quite portable...nowhere near as large as some DSLRs I have seen and for an amateur photographer who doesn't need the full features of a DSLRs you really can't knock this camera.

5.0 out of 5 stars Im no professional but..., 12 Aug 2010
As the subject states, I am by no means a pro but this camera makes me feel like one. I love the look and feel, it's quick to start up and switches between shooting modes very quickly. I took it to the Golf british open at St Andrews and got some fantastic shots with it, even with appauling conditions. Love it.

This is an excellent camera for point and shoot photography. The large screen, 12 mp resolution, 15x optical zoom and the HD movie function are terrific. The only negative issue is that the selection buttons are very close to the thumb rest and can be operated unintentionally. A minor issue which does not detract from the generally excellent layout of the controls. A brilliant little camera for the non technical photographer. Well worth the expenditure.

After a good deal of research I finally went for the Nikon L110 mainly, if I'm honest, because of the brand. I have now taken 300 or so shots and I'm very impressed with the results. Only reasons it's not 5 star are lack of a printed instruction book (minor irritation) and jerky zoom which I find difficult to set exactly where I want it. Also be warned that the camera is smaller than I expected so does get a bit lost in my fairly large hands, the upside however is that it is just about possible to put it in the pocket of my outdoor rain jacket.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great apart from a camera lens issue., 13 April 2011
This review is from: Nikon L110 Digital Camera - Black (12.1MP, 15x Optical Zoom) 3 inch LCD (Electronics)
Buyer beware, a great camera but take a battery out when travelling with the lens cap on. I had it in a camera bag within my bag, and the camera must have been trying to repeatedly turn itself on bashing the lens into the lens cap. Probably a tiny piece of debris got in the way and has promptly taken a chip out of the lens. Why dont a reputable company like Nikon warn you about these things, or sort out design faults like these out so it doesnt happen i.e. if the lens cap is on the camera wont operate. Very unhappy now with my lovely new camera, I had only had it a week. So now at least if you buy this camera you will be aware of this problem, and dont end up with a damaged camera like mine.
