5.0 out of 5 stars Rather Good as ever for a BBC Natural History Blu-Ray
This is not Planet Earth.
It is Natural World, a different kettle of fish and 4 hours of top quality TV programming, in glorious HD.
Other reviewers comments about the Birds of Paradise programme illustrates a complete lack of understanding
of these fabulous creatures, to get a "glimpse" on film is remarkable.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality!
I have never been so disappointed in a BBC documentary. The Birds of Paradise production is dreadful! The filmed material is not in HD quality. It is very noisy and often out of focus. Sometimes in the bird hide you see more of the Papua scientist's head than the birds of paradise. Very unprofessional! And what the heck happened to the material the producers used from the...

The Wilds of Essex programme, with the clips of Peregrine flight is worth the price alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars At last, some of this gread series on Blu-ray!, 31 Aug 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Natural World Collection [Blu-ray] [Region Free] (Blu-ray)
This collection is worth the money just for the Birds of Paradise (and the other tree are good as well!). The programme quality is what we have come to expect from the BBC Natural History unit. It would have been nice to see these in 1080p rather than 1080i, but I guess that's how they were filmed.

Sometimes in the bird hide you see more of the Papua scientist's head than the birds of paradise. Very unprofessional! And what the heck happened to the material the producers used from the "Attenborough in Paradise" program? The picture quality here is even below VHS-standard - unbelievable! I have never seen such a weak program from the BBC in years. If this is the new Blu-ray standard, I will keep my DVD's. The other programs are in a reliable quality - especially the Wood-Elephant documentary. All in all a real disappointment - I hope the next Blu-ray editions from the BBC will be better quality.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not play in the U.S. Must be region locked or 180/50i, 2 Jan 2011
This review is from: Natural World Collection [Blu-ray] [Region Free] (Blu-ray)
I purchased this thru Amazon UK as I have done with wonderful BBC Nature Documentaries.
This is the first time I am unable to view this Blu-ray in America. Must be due to 1080i/50i.
I was looking forward to viewing very interesting documentaries.
