It's just cheaper option for Accu Measure caliper. It does its job but certainly Accu Measure one seems to be better mainly thanks to element that allows you to read measurements after you release arms of a caliper. With this one you have to read measurement while still holding it on your skin. Which is obviously awkward.

It looks a bit flimsy in the photograph, but the real thing looks and feels stronger. It's very well made and easy to use. You take three readings and use the average. It's no frills and that accounts for the price. If you want something that sings and dances then you should look at spending more. This does what it says and, for the money, it's great

Everyone I have tried these on gets the same result of 10 which says lean, one of my friends is classed as morbidly obese and according to these he is lean. They seem easy enough to use but to make sure I wasn't being daft I had several people at work try them without telling them what to do except follow the instructions. You will never guess what reading they got........ bloomin 10. Also don't get carried away with the title of body fat charts, you will need your reading glasses on to read them, actually they are not very well printed out on a single piece of paper which also has the instructions on.
One good point hence the one star they arrived quickly.

The actual calipers are a little flimsy, but they certainly do the job.

The "instructions" and "chart" are what brings the review down.

The instructions aren't sufficient for measuring overall body fat, which requires measurements taken at several locations over the body.

The instructions which come with these calipers instruct you to measure an inch above your hip, and that's it.

The body fat chart is also insufficient. There are no instructions on how to calculate body fat percentage. The measurements are compared to your sex and age, and then you are told if you are lean, ideal, average or overfat.

The charts are as useless as BMI.

This is an okay product but has one major flaw. You ideally need someone to read the measurement for you as there is no way of locking the reading and checking it after taking it away from your fat. You have to awkwardly try to look at the reading whilst taking the reading, whilst the fat caliper is between you fat layer. This is harder than it sounds and because of it I've not used this much. Might get a digital one or one which locks the reading, so to make taking the reading easier.

PURE CRAP. Seriously ... its not the original and its just ... it doesn't work ...seriously, if you are thinking of getting this caliper, Dont, either waste your money on another expensive one that will tell you how fat you are but not help in anyway change how you look. Or just look in the mirror and see where you've got. make your choice

I had my body fat measured professionally last week with expensive professional calipers and wanted to see how accurate this plastic one would be. Holding as per the instructions yielded very inaccurate results that underestimated body fat as the flexing of the plastic would move the arrow around 3 mm.

When following all guidelines meticulously seen here: [...], and using the Durnin-Womersley Caliper Method (same used when I got measured professionally) I managed to get an average over 3 measurements within 1 mm of the professional ones when holding the calipers all the way up at the pinch (to minimise flexing of the plastic). In the calculation however 1 mm still equates to a difference of about 1.5% points of body fat.

I would think that if you practise and manage to get consistent readings with this you can use it to monitor progress, but it won't be able to give you an accurate reading compared to professional equipment. To get anything useful it's essential to follow some proper guidelines and make measurements at several locations on the body, and you need another person to be able to do this.

Great product for the price. there is no need to pay more for expensive alternatives. This simple little device is enough to test body fat accurately.

Yeah, it's cheap. But for good reason, difficult to read clearly, would much prefer it if it was able to lock to the reading. I'd avoid this if you're looking for an accurate measurement.

bought this and it does what it says on the tin. you'd have to look after it as its plastic but if your not a careless person this wont be a problem.
