5.0 out of 5 stars Highly impressed - Point and Shoot magic
Really impressed with this new Canon, purchased it after my old Ixus went for a swim :( Was really after a easy point and shoot for places were I dare not take my SLR.

It's an absolutely superb camera for the price, on a tighter budget I would say you could opt for the A3000 one because its basically exactly the same aside from the sensor. Your actually paying...

3.0 out of 5 stars They don't build them like they used to....
I'm a long-term Canon PowerShot user and this was bought to replace one that died after heavy use. Despite being better in all ways on paper, I'm really not pleased with this camera. It is very poor indoors and with the flash, causing very blurry photos in these conditions. It's also much slower than the previous model and therefore very poor for shooting children who...

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly impressed - Point and Shoot magic, 4 April 2010
This review is from: Canon PowerShot A3100 IS Digital Camera - Silver (12.1MP, 4x Optical Zoom) 2.7 Inch LCD (Electronics)

Your actually paying for 2 extra mega-pixels of noise on this one :)

Pro's:

- Very nice build quality, much better than equivalent Sony's at this price
- Very clean images up to ISO 200
- Button/Menu layout is excellent as usual for Canon but I particularly liked the feel of the buttons compared to other manufacturers
- Image stabilization has been superb
- Face detection is very impressive
- Very easy to use

Con's:
- Struggling to find many really
- The lack of viewfinder but to be honest on P&S camera its v.rare that you use a viewfinder
- The battery life is OK, would recommend a secondary battery for when using the flash a lot (cheap from HK/China)

Overall: This will never replace a SLR but it does a damn fine job for a point and shoot. Perfect for taking out when you don't want to take an expensive camera. Image quality is crystal clear, very easy to use, nice build quality and highly impressive for the price tag.

Tips: Turn Image stabilization onto shoot only, reduce brightness of LCD, shoot in P mode at ISO below 200, buy a second battery, when taking night shots without a flash use a 2sec timer

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little camera, 10 Aug 2010
This review is from: Canon PowerShot A3100 IS Digital Camera - Silver (12.1MP, 4x Optical Zoom) 2.7 Inch LCD (Electronics)
I'm using this for 2 months, and I've to say, it take pictures worth almost a reflex. A really good one, I'd buy it again if I needed.

The battery is practically infinite, I just came back from holidays and I only had to charge it once (I took more than 900 pictures using flash often)

What do you need from a camera. Are you after perfect shots each and everytime with the minimum of fuss then look no further If you want something to take those "professional shots" then go and buy a very expensive SLR although the results from this camera can be stunning. This really is a great point and shoot camera with all the gismos if you need to play around with them. Simple to operate in Auto mode just point and shoot and the camera does all the work. Takes great indoor and outdoor shots from as close as 3cm to infinity. The build quality is very good. Its made of metal and does not feel plasticy as one reviewer has stated. Big 2.7 screen which will not diappear in sunlight - you can adjust the brightness. Its just about the right size and weight to put in your pocket. Really pleased with it especially when I bought it for less than £90 from Amazon. Bought spare li-on batteries from E Bay at 2 for £6-50 ie £3-25 each. Sorted

Camera arrive very quickly from Amazon, and everything worked well (very intuitive)and quality of images are excellent. Great point and shoot camera. I Wish a camera case and SD card were part of the same deal, or a few pounds more, otherwise, Great value and would recommend to anyone as a first time camera.

I recently bought this camera for my holiday. It was easy to use and I'm really pleased with my pictures. The battery life is excellent. I also like it because it uses standard SD cards for memory. I would definately recommend this camera.

My wife really likes this camera. It's quick, easy to use and takes very good photos. Video quality is good even though not HD. You'd be hard pressed to find better at this price. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little camera, 11 Aug 2010
A Kid's Review
This was a birthday present, I got it because I wanted a digital camera. Now I do like CANONS because they have great picture quality. But this one in particular was great as it had a good price tag. There are so many features on this camera. One thing I really liked was the usage of zoom during filming.

The design

It is so easy to hold and not to small that it slips out of your hand, finding buttons is easy as it has a dial on top to go through different modes. Even at first it is so easy to use and if you get stuck theres a manual on cd and in a booklet.

The quality

Yes, the picture and movie quality is great and the modes really help you get the best picture. The movie quality is good but not great but as this is a camera I give movie quality five stars. The battery quality is great aswell because it only needs to charge for about 2 hours and the battery life lasts for ages.

Bonuses

It comes with a CD and the CD has a video editing device which you download. You can also register on the CANON website and register your camera on.

There is only one bad thing and it isn't really bad. It's that it doesn't come with a SD card (well thats normal) But there's no storage space to take pictures on the camera without an SD card. But that is not so bad as it is easy to get SD cards.

Well altogether it is a great digital camera and if you are looking for a simple camera with good quality, I advice you concider this one.

Thank you

This review is from: Canon PowerShot A3100 IS Digital Camera - Silver (12.1MP, 4x Optical Zoom) 2.7 Inch LCD (Electronics)
Bought Camera for my daughters birthday. She is very pleased with the pictures. Amazon was the cheaper than the high street retail shops, enabling me to get the upgraded camera for the price limited I wished to pay. Good size sreen and easy to edit pictures. I have purchased Canon before and have always been pleased the the digital photo results. The delivery of the product was fast. Would recommend the camera.

5.0 out of 5 stars I had 1 problem, 7 Nov 2010
A Kid's Review
I wrote a earlier review "great little camera"

I still think it is great but the one I have had a problem on my holiday luckily it was on the last day. I think it was bashed. Anyway this was a good way to test the warranty service. It was a bit tricky but then I sent it. It took a few weeks which I was not fussed about. So I still think the camera is great!

Thank you for reading the review,
Bye

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing camera, 6 Aug 2010
This review is from: Canon PowerShot A3100 IS Digital Camera - Silver (12.1MP, 4x Optical Zoom) 2.7 Inch LCD (Electronics)
It did what it said on the box, I was fed up with lugging around a hefty slr and decided to go for the small comapact camera, it takes amazing shots and is dead easy to use, you only need to know how to put the sd card and battery in and your done... I carry this camera everywhere i go, its small and handy pocket size i love it...
