If I'm going to read non-fiction, it's got to be something very interesting to keep me reading. And Swingers: Female Confidential certainly resides in the 'interesting' category. Freelance writer Ashley Lister came across the same question again and again in research for other works - "Why do women swing?" Therefore he set out to find the answer.

Through numerous meetings and interviews with women of all ages and backgrounds, the author of this fascinating book set out to answer the question once and for all. The contributors, who have remained anonymous throughout, have been incredibly honest about their swinging lifestyle. How they were introduced to the scene, why they were up for it, and how it has changed their lives. The book provides an extraordinary insight into the lifestyle, and I believe it can teach a thing or two to those who thought they knew it all!

The women in the book have had good experiences and bad experiences, but the great thing to read was that none of them were pressured. It was something they got into of their own accord, and by the most part, they love it. I'm a huge believer in each to their own, and at the end of the day if everyone's happy, what's the problem?

The book kept me interested from beginning to end. Even for those who have no intention of ever getting involved in the scene, if you have an open mind about sex, I'm sure you'll find this captivating. I certainly. Shocking statistics include: Did you know that up to 60% of country parks in the UK have played host to dogging at some point in their history?

Anyway, if you're interested in learning more about this aspect of recreational sex, you can't go wrong with this book. Swingers: Female Confidential is a real eye-opener. Other potential markets are those already into the scene and perhaps looking to introduce a new partner. The positive spin on the lifestyle in this book would certainly do wonders to persuade people with any doubts! An excellent read - though perhaps not for the beach!

Overall this book was an exciting read and very informative - and I would recommend it without reservation to any reader who is interested in this unusual topic

- very informative

- with experiences from all different perspectives - those who are pro and those who are con

- well written so that it is not just boring recounts but told in such a manner as to keep your attention

- piece was also very well laid out - in a very logical manner

leaves you wanting more - but maybe that was the authors intention

Some suggestions for improvements - the factual / preview section of each of the parts of the book could have been expanded upon - although there is lots of reference sources on the internet - so perhaps just some more web site references

This pretends to be a serious and genuine piece of factual research into an aspect of female sexuality. However, if it's 10% genuine, it's 90% the fantasies of the author who gives every female speaker virtually the same voice and same style of language; and the stories become increasingly pornographic and unlikely, all in an attempt to keep the reader interested.

This book is a real revelation, exposing the world of Britians swinging community, it was fascinating to read. Not only was it informative but it was exceptionally erotic and a lot of fun to read. I can recommend this title for anyone who is into the swinging scene or just very curious as to what goes on behind closed doors!

I wanted to glean snippets of information about the swingers lifestyle. It transpires that the word 'swinging' used in this book, covers all type of sexual expressions, not just the exclusive meaning that the general public expect it to mean. For me, that meant the book offered more information and insight to other realms of sexual persuasion than i had expected, thus giving a great read.
Although written with a more academic feel to it, one cannot help feeling a sense of arousal.

Good book. Liked the honest, believable opinions of the stories, as opposed to other highly exaggerated versions. Enjoyed to book immensely.

A very clear attempt to show people that this type of meetings can be safe and great fun. Wish I could be brave enough to join in .

A well written, excellent, informative study of a fairly secret part of society. Recommended to anyone who wants to find out more.

A crisp and polished peek into the current Swinging Lifestyle. Through research and interviews, author provides some interesting snapshots into the variety of activities of the modern swinger, from swing parties to "dogging". Very well written and informative. I found it intriguing to compare this outsider's peek into the Lifestyle with several other books written by swinging insiders, including "A Private Diary" and "Doin One for the Team". The books are very current views of today's swinger, a fascinating subculture that has seen a recent growth in popularity.
