The author is a noted writer, and contributed much to the establishment of Vedanta centre in the North America and elsewhere through his writings.
Due to the author's brilliant writings, for the people who are starting to dig into Vedic religion and its culture, and their foremost proponent, Ramakrishna and Ramakrishna Mission, this book is indispensable.
Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa had 12 disicples, each of them unique, varied temperament and talenst. There are so many books about Him and His disciples written, but Isherwood gives great and easy to understand description, for the non-Indian minds (who are not accustomed to understand guru-sishya relationship). Whatever the success of Ramakrihsa Mission and its charitable works, without the combination of Great Master and His gret disciples, could not have accomplished.
Many things about the chief disciple Vivekananda is known. But through this book, the readers can rad and understnad the other disciples about whom little were written.
