The original work is more than 100 years old and this re-edit by Chet Dembeck brings the writing of H. Addington Bruce up-to-date and includes two new stories of the paranormal. Basically, you're on your way into ghost hunting and paranormal encounters in an era before technology. It does all become a little 'smoke and mirrors' at times because we're so reliant of science now and it's hard to take some of the hauntings seriously but; there's more than enough here to give you quite a chill if you're willing to suspend some belief. I'm a great fan of Victorian/Edwardian ghost stories and I expected the slow, ambling structure of the stories along with the slightly out-dated language and it won't suit everyone. If, like me, horror and the supernatural is your preferred genre then I'd recommend the download, The Succubus is especially good, just don't expect cotemporary horror elements because they're not here. Plenty of content along with decent illustrations makes this an absolute bargain to download and means you've little to lose by having a look.

This book is a very good read which explores the subject of the supernatural with reference to allegedly real situations for which there are no obvious explanations. It is interesting and thought provoking. Once I started reading this book I felt a compulsion to carry on and read it in one pass. Sometimes I think the author gives the impression that he is a sceptic, although, to me, that adds to the intrigue of the accounts in ths book.

Overall, a well written book by Chet Dembeck with perhaps a slight slant towards the sceptical but with plenty of interest for most people and particularly good value in Kindle format. Recommended.

A REALLY BAD BORING BOOK OF DULLNESS!!
I was hoping for some really good spooky stories. Don't bother.
As they say---never judge a book by its cover!___literally. Rubbish.
