This is a great action flick for those who don't take their action flicks too seriously. Walter, a low level FBI worker suddenly has a $3 million dollar bounty on his head and no one knows why. The first part of the movie shows us a number of ingenious assassins performing their various skills on their victims. They are all mercenaries.

One group, the Tremor family appears to have been copied from a Rob Zombie film down to the sexy sophomoric humor of Sherrie Moon Zombie as the pretty Autumn Reeser. The action moves along to a good soundtrack. The movie uses its own fast forward for fight scenes. The unrated edition has simulated sex and very brief nudity. While the assassins are being introduced, Walter is moved to a secure bunker in Chicago under a jazz club. The assassins show up and fighting and killing break out between the FBI men and the assassins who also fight amongst themselves. There is a slight plot twist but the story line isn't worth a flip to care. Yes the acting is campy. It is a cult movie and I found it more enjoyable than the first one.

Imagine your sweaty but gracefully feminine palms clutching your favourite late '80s Punisher comic. You may be reading it with a small torch beneath MASK bedsheets. Or perhaps you are not me. Now imagine Garth Ennis imbibing palmfuls of military grade psilocybins and then watching Team America and the last six minutes of The Usual Suspects before dictating the garbled results to a man-squid posing as a harmless portable recording device.

Add in Vinnie Jones, the mad Scottish bloke from unfairly neglected C movie Hero Wanted and light the OTT fuse with exploding clown cannons and the loveable Tremor clan. This is puerile, sexist crud which offends on almost every level. Yes, that's right soldier. Buy it now. Run, don't walk! The Blu-ray played fine on my bottom of the range Sony BD350 and comes with a nice clutch of extras.

DO NOT let the neg reviews put you off buying this movie , I nearly did - but now I am glad I did not

The storyline is very similar to that of THE USUAL SUSPECTS ,and me saying that is NOT A SPOILER because the ending has a completely different outcome.

The directing is very good - this movie obviously had no-where near the big budget of the first SMOKIN ACES ,but the director / P.J PESCE has done a great job in trying to make up for that by using a big variety of often seen before but very entertaing style of filming .The acting is pretty good , TOM BERENGER was terrific and so was CLAYNE CRAWFORD / AGENT BAKER , its definitely NOT SHORT of action coz theres plenty of shootin / killing goin on in this movie , and its not short in the GORGEOUS GIRLS department either coz theres some great looking eye candy for the guys in the forms of MARTHA HIGAREDA / ARIELLA MARTINEZ & AUTUMN REESER / KAITLYN AK-47 TREMOR ( both play gorgeous assasins :p )

IN A WAY ITS THE POOR MANS ' THE USUAL SUSPECTS ' .... BUT VERY ENTERTAINING & DEFINITELY WORTH A WATCH

This is an awesome film full of over the top graphic violence and madness, the cast is great, its good to see Vinnie Jones doing what he does best playing a psycho! The story is actually very good too and plays out really well revealing a few twists along the way! I enjoyed this movie more than the original, very good budget, for a straight to home release movie its well worth checking out if guns, girls, blood and violence and madness is your cup of tea!!

Grim on every level imaginable. The first one was entertaining enough but you know that quality will plummet when Vinnie Jones appears in a DVD.

I enjoyed the original 'Smokin Aces', it was over the top enjoyable and stupid but great fun. This film has nothing in common with it except the title. Walter Weed; an FBI clerk, is suddenly found to be the target of an open contract for $3 million that must be completed at 3am on April 19. The FBI swings into action to protect him whilst a motley crew of assassins; supposed to be best in the business, line up to kill him. Vinnie Jones does himself no favours but probably earned himself a few bob so well done Vin. The rest of the cast will be largely anonymous to British audiences. To its credit the production values are fine. Its a full screen presentation and looks good with lots of explosions and a solid audio track. The print is sharp enough to warrant not bothering with the blu ray but overall the film isn't worth buying. If this is your bag buy 'The Tournament' instead, if you must see it then rent it.

More of the same, almost. Still, worth 5 stars just to see Vinnie do his hit-man thing. Lol.
