Having watched Edward G. Robinson in Cecil B. DeMille's 'The Ten Commandments' I wanted to learn more about his track record leading up to 1956 by watching this film. Don't waste your money on this poorly made effort. Although Brian Keith's performance is good, and you see Lorne Greene before 'Bonanza' and 'Roots', the film itself fails to provide a believable story or credible characters. Robinson is in a grey listed period in his life when he's not quite blacklisted from studios, nor is he given any solid roles. In a way, this is a b-picture, but it's not a movie because it fails to provide believable characters even though Keith's performance is good. Good performances don't necessarily make good films. It is a collaboration between Robinson and Keith - Robinson as a grey listed actor grooming the up and coming Keith - rather than a solid movie.
