A fascinating history
on 26 September 2008
I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone. The book is well written, intelligent and thoroughly researched, it grabs your attention from the first page and does not let go until the end of the book.
The author writes well, but does not assume that you have an in depth knowledge of the mutiny. He explores the situation with the British in India before the mutiny and then looks at what set the mutiny off. One of the many things I liked about this book was that it was not biased. The writer states facts, he neither condemns nor condones the actions of either side in the running battles of the mutiny.
I was aware of the history of the mutiny, but unaware of the details of the situation. This book is an excellent tome for learning about the mutiny, and I feel that anyone with an interest in history should read this. The style of writing and his ability to engage the reader thoroughly would encourage me to read anything else he has written. Please read this book you won't be disappointed.
