Another great book by this author, she excelled herself in her last book Nobodys girl. But yet again, she holds your attention continually by twisting and turning the plot so that you are never sure what the outcome will be. The storyline flows and the empathy you feel with the characters does justice to the skill of the author. It was a book that I found I could not put down and was able read the whole book in a few days. Well done. After reading the extract of her new book Draper's Alley roll on August 08.

I bought this book on holiday but didn't start to read it until I got home. Its one of those books which once you start reading it you can't put it down. I started reading it one night and had to force myself to put it down at 1.30am. I will definatly be buying more books by Kitty Neale.

I read this book in under two days. Couldn't put it down because I wanted to know what happened next. You feel empathy for the characters and engrossed in the storyline. Another excellent offering from Kitty Neale and I can't wait til August for 'Draper's Alley'.

I bought this book as part of a 3 for 2 offer and, as I was in a hurry, picked it because the cover looked interesting..................
Well, I kept reading until the end because I DID want to know what happened but the writing style made me feel that I was back in the junior class at school. You know the type of thing, 'she climbed the stairs and then she walked along the landing and then she opened the door and then she entered the room......................' It began to feel very contrived and, though I still wanted to know what actually happened, I was pretty certain by about a quarter of the way through how it was going to end.

I am a great fan of Kitty Neale and after reading other peoples reviews on this book i knew i wouldnt be disappointed.
I am only three quarters of the way through the book but the story is just brilliant.
The story has so many twists and turns you just never know where it is going to go to next.
For all fans of Kitty Neale i would highly recommend this book. For people who have never read any of her books this one is a good one to start and i can guarantee it wont be long before you are looking forward to reading other books by her.
I never like books that take ages to get into the story line but that is never so with this authors books from the minute you start to read the first page the story has started.

Loved it.
Poor Emma has a hard life, her father makes her marry Horace, just so they don't get evicted!
Unfortunately Emma can't cope with the physical side to the marriage, I don't blame, she's married to a horrible person, who manipulates her, but not for long, she drinks to cope, and that gives her courage to stand up to him, then he decides, when he finds out that she's pregnant, that the baby isn't his!

Got to be my favourite so far, have read 5 kitty neale novels so far, but this has came out on top. Great length novel, every chapter leaves the reader wanting more, this is why I finished it so quickly. Could not put it down. I went through all the emotions whilst reading this book, anger, pity, sadness.... U name it, it's in there. Keep up the great writing kitty

I loved this book. I have never read anything by this author before, but thats the beauty of kindle, the special offers make you purchase books by unknown authors. I will definitely be purchasing more of her books. The characters were believable and the dilemmas they faced seemed real for the situations they found themselves in. Would recommend.

This book started out okay and the cover looked interesting however, I don't think its one of Kitty Neales best books. It was very predictable in places and I found it quite boring. The story seemed a bit far-fetched and not really believable for that era.
