5.0 out of 5 stars More beautiful and hypnotic music from Iceland, 23 Feb 2010
By
This review is from: Vid Og Vid (Audio CD)
Iceland just keeps producing truly great music. It baffles me that a country with just over 300,000 people can produce so many inspiring bands and artists.

Olof Arnalds is another one to add to that list. I was a fan of her work with Múm, so had to check this out, and I've been quite bowled over to be honest.

Her voice is stunning, and although she sings in Icelandic, the lyrics have a melody of their own. How the words sound, in her case, seems just as important as what she's saying.

The music revolves around her voice, and folky, sparse acoustic guitar. And the strings on some tracks (played by Amiina, another wonderful Icelandic band), are just gorgeous.

It's probably one of my albums of the year, and one that will continue to entrance me for many years to come.
Highly, highly recommended to all!!!

So good, in so many ways. Complex melodies, on beautifully simple instrumentation, interwoven with a beautiful voice. If you get a chance to see her live - she's fantastic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vid og vid, 25 Nov 2011

The ethereal soundworld evoked by this Icelandic band.conjours up images of the faere world. The very rocks come alive and elves and trolls are discovered at their muse. This CD sings of the soul of the sea-bound land of ice and fire.
