4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful muli-touch PC
An outstanding PC, I have always had an aversion to all-in-one computers, however this has proved that they can work. The reason why I got this machine was to have a play with a multi-touch interface and see how to design UIs that can take advantage of this technology. The screen provided gives a great clear image and the ability to use two fingers to zoom, rotate and...

2.0 out of 5 stars 2 CPU failures in 16 months
A month after I bought my HP touchsmart 310 the computer would not turn on at all - the CPU had failed and was replaced. 15 months later the CPU failed again, and will cost 200+ to fix. Contacted HP but they were not interested. Do not buy these all in one machines if you want a PC to last longer than 2 years - the idea and look is a good one, but the technology has...

This review is from: HP TouchSmart 300-1015uk Desktop PC (Touch Enabled 20-inch LCD Display, Windows 7 Home Premium, AMD Athlon II X2 235e Processor, 2 GB RAM, 320 GB SATA) (Electronics)
An outstanding PC, I have always had an aversion to all-in-one computers, however this has proved that they can work. The reason why I got this machine was to have a play with a multi-touch interface and see how to design UIs that can take advantage of this technology. The screen provided gives a great clear image and the ability to use two fingers to zoom, rotate and navigate is a really intuitive interface.

The AMD Athlon2 x2 CPU is not as capable as the Intel Core Dou CPUS and this is evident when trying to either multitask or perform cpu intensive actions, and by only providing 2GB of RAM the system can be fairly sluggish. The Hard Drive is not the fastest in the world but is more than capable for most uses.

After a few weeks in the office playing with the multi-touch interface, I have now moved this PC home where it is my main Home PC. The included Digital TV Receiver combined with Windows 7 Media Center provides a great home entertainment system, especially when combined with a media extender or Xbox360.

It is defiantly worthwhile spending the little extra for the slightly better configured version (HP Touchsmart 300-1025uk Desktop PC (Windows 7 Home Premium, Touch-Enabled 20-inch Display, AMD Athlon II X3 400E, 4 GB DDR3, 500 GB SATA, ATI Radeon, Bluetooth)) as the dual core CPU and 2GB of RAM do hamper the performance of this great little PC.

Don't buy this machine it is unreliable - search "Hyperflood Error" for the Touchsmart 300 and you'll see that it routinely crashes.
