I saw this film as a young child on tv and the music has haunted me since. For years I have been looking for a copy of this film and now I have fulfilled my dream and my husband is so pleased that I will at last shut up about it as I will be able to watch it whenever I wish! I was not disappointed at all , yes the acting is totally different to modern day acting but there was a feeling that an old friend had dropped by, the music was everything I had remembered totalling haunting and still made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. All in all the best find ever!

I last saw this film about 40 years ago and have never managed to see it again until now.
The quality of the DVD was excellent and the music as haunting as ever. I think Hitchcok would have made a better go of it. The acting was a tad hammy, but that won't stop me watching it again!

I first saw "While I Live" on TV when I was a child and it made a lasting impression on me. Watching it now, 50 years later, I am not so impressed. It seems rather disjointed and confusing but it does have a certain period charm. Now, as then, it is the music, "The Dream of Olwen", which makes the film.

A very enjoyable film, the music 'Dream of Olwen' sounds as good as it did 50plus years ago, a nostalgic trip back in time, definately worth watching.

Thank you AmazonUK for asking for my opinion of this movie, I first saw this movie in England when I was seven years old, that was in 1947. The music, 'THE DREAM OF OLWEN' made such an impression on me it instantly became my very favorite piece of music and IT STILL IS. The only other time I saw this movie was on TV, in England, I believe in about 1953 or 54.

I have wanted this movie on VHS or DVD for a very long time, but after reading the many terrible reviews about the condition of this movie available here in Canada and America, there didn't seem to be any point in sending for it. However, I then read a review that said there was new release of 'While I Live' available though AmazonUK and the film, picture and sound, were both excellent. As you know I did send for this movie and it is excellent. The story line is really good and the music is second to none.

I was taking piano lessons when I first saw this movie and my parents bought me the sheet music of 'THE DREAM OF OLWEN' and the record, a 12inch 78rpm breakable disc, was the very first record I bought with my own money, many years later I bought a 45rpm vinyl EP of the same recording. The 78 broke many years ago and the 45 is sounding a bit 'worn' now, both records were the sound track of the movie and were of course MONO recordings but I now have an excellent STEREO CD of this wonderful piece of music. The CD is called 'THE CLASSIC TOUCH' and the piano is played by the brilliant french pianist RICHARD CLAYDERMAN and THE ROYAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA, Wow, what a fabulous recording, I listen to it constantly, and I watch the movie again and again and again and can recommend the movie 'WHILE I LIVE', a RENOWN PICTURES LTD, DVD release, and the RICHARD CLAYDERMAN recording to anyone.

I saw this film many years ago, when I was a child. It left such an impact on me and my sister, that when I ordered it , it was for my sister's Christmas present, in memory of the old days.

This Is a great Film with the Haunting Theme Dreams of Olwen running right through It. It Is a New Remastered Version of the Film and a Nice Print as well. The Cliff Top Scene Is probebly the most Remembered One In this Film as Pictured on the DVD Cover. There Is only one Film to come close to this and that Is "Enchanted Cottage".also Avalible on DVD Somewhere on the Net.

While I Live [DVD] [1947]
I love it.
I was a little apprehensive about the quality after reading reviews elsewhere but the digitally remastered edition from Renown Pictures has superb picture and sound for such an old film. It is also region 0 which should play anywhere.
The centrepiece of this is of course the music composition, The Dream of Olwen, the story being cleverly woven around the music with many twists and turns until the surprise ending. I thought the acting was good, particularly Tom Walls.
Some of todays budding filmmakers should be watching this as an example of a captivating film using only a few actors instead of the thousands used nowadays.
