4.0 out of 5 stars Gallic genius releases fine album
When Daft Punk heralded the latest French Revolution (in Dance culture) in the mid '90's, both Air and Kid Loco loped through on their coat tails. Kid Loco's "Grand Love Story" was every bit the peer of Air's "Moon Safari", though marginally less successful. Since then he appears to have rather enigmatically disappeared into remix oblivion. 3.0 out of 5 stars Lacklustre follow up
I think something has gone to the Kid's head. I think he's finally smoked too much.
His first album, "A Grand Love Story" is a fantastic piece of downtempo history. This album is littered with too many vocals, school kid lyrics about smoking and getting the munchies, and an obesssion with Lou Reed. It's not bad but it pails slightly in comparison with his previous...

Now arrives "Kill Your Darlings", but even this is still only available on import rather than a full release. Presumably the record company does not consider this to be as potentially successful as "Discovery" or "10,000 HZ Legend", though they would be wise to reconsider. This Gallic genius has written some of his best music to date, though the words "cafe" et "table" do spring to mind, dacor!
The beats are liquid funk and the mood is chillout, perfectly encapsulated with opening track "Cocaine Diana". Don't wait for the genearal release, it might just not happen, invest those couple of extra quid in one of the finest releases this year!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than A Grand Love Story I think, 28 Mar 2007

I think this album is better than his chill-out stuff. More vocals, guitars, some samples and a somewhat distorted feeling of craziness. I like it a lot and so do my like-minded friends. If you're into The Air and stuff like that u'll like it too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Get ready darlings...it's another killer from Loco, 16 Feb 2002
This review is from: Kill Your Darling (Audio CD)
If you like any of Loco's work you're gonna love this. It's moved away from dopebeatville a bit and (for me anyway) there's a hint of Spiritualised and Julian Cope in there somewhere. Great to drive or chill to. I bet you're aged 25-30.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Album, 10 Feb 2004
This review is from: Kill Your Darling (Audio CD)
This album is a change from the usual laid back stuff from Kid Loco. In places he could be Lou Reed or Jim Morrisson. The more I listen to this album the more I enjoy it.

I bought this CD for my husband as he really likes Kid Loco, and this album did not disappoint. It is fantastic! It comes highly recommended by both of us!

2.0 out of 5 stars please, make it stop, 4 April 2009
This review is from: Kill Your Darling (Audio CD)
I used to own this album. A Grand Love Story was great but this was just awful, Kid Loco appeared to become a parody of himself. Good grief!
