If you have the Immaculate Collection you also need this,
This review is from: Celebration (2 CD) (Audio CD)
Where The Immaculate Collection left off Celebration continues, ok so the album is missing a few Madonna hits but it's only a 2 CD compilation and to produce an ultimate greatest hits it would have taken 3 discs. Madonna's career has been long and varied and this album covers most musical genres and goes a long way to prove she isn't just an 80's artist of even a 90's artist. Madonna moves with the times, sometimes she creates new sounds and also trends. The definitive female artist and queen of pop owns and earns her place as an Icon and and the reason why so many female artist exist today. Celebration includes no.1 hits over 3 decades and an extensive top ten selections. My one issue is the track placement but then it's a digital age so you place them in any order you prefer. This CD is a must for anyone and the DVD to accompany is jaw dropping.

The Queen Of Pop,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Celebration (2 CD) (Audio CD)
There is no doubt Madonna is the Queen of pop. This album is perfect. contains all her best and most well known hits.Only downside is that some of the ballads like Rain, Bad Girl, Power Of Goodbye all miss out on a place but given Madonna has spanned so many hits not everything was going to get a look in. A must buy if you love pop music. No collection would be right unless this is in it.

madonna (Ciconne) - Celebration (2CD set) remastered,

basically Ms Madge could go on and slaughter the beatles and elvis if she keeps going on and on and on and on...with material of this quality.she even makes Kate Bush (UK's best singer/songwriter, by far) look very plain-jane in terms of success - no mean achievement, that. warner music really definitely ought to put out a decent 4xCD set of all her 70+ Brit hit singles. she's just put yet another hit single out this year: April 2012. NB: There's a slightly naughty Chinese 3CD set album also called "Celebration" kicking around too which has more hits on it whuch ought to motivate warner to make a sort of "Celebration Volume 2" soon. this album is the 3rd Gts hits type compilation album - the other 2 are now totally redundant. the 1st one was VG++ the 2nd one had v.poor choices. most of her big big big 80's hits except Gambler on it. some 90's stuff and a few 2000's 21tC stuff ie stuff that is cliched collaborations qv "feat xyz". sound quality is truly outstanding - Jap pressing. i guess that her contract allows Madge to totally control all her product (a bit like Kate Bush) that this selection is her own personal choice of hit singles. Jap pressing 2CD of this album around if you can afford it. there's probably a vinyl set of this album kicking around too. 18+18 tracks on it and the 2x79.59 time limit is almost used up completely so a truly outstanding VFM music product. compulsory purchase. truly magnificent late 20thC/early 21thC pop music by the greatest female pop star of my generation (and my age, too). her career started in 1985 when Kate Bush and Olivia Newton-John's careers were both on the wane and she's long overtaken both those 2 girlie singers by a huge margin - i kid you not.

Madonna's Most Recent Greatest Hits Compilation,
By
This review is from: Celebration (2 CD) (Audio CD)
As many others who enjoy Madonna's music, I have pretty much grew up listening to many of Madonna's songs. One of the first songs that I can recall hearing of hers was "Like a Virgin". I admit that I was definitely under 10 years old before being exposed to her music, but I found her music good to listen to then and I still do now. With this said, I have to agree with others who say that more of her hits could have been included in this collection. Every Madonna fan has their favorite songs that could have been included. For me, I wish that the songs "Fever"(from her Erotica album), "Rain"(from her Erotica album) and "I'll Remember"(for the film "With Honors") would have been included in the "Celebration" collection. I would respectfully say that she has had enough hits to at least have warranted a three cd set collection, rather than just two. However, I still feel that this collection is worth owning because of the diversity of songs included in the "Celebration" collection. For instance, the music listener is treated to her daring 80's side with the catchy songs of "Dress You Up"(a song about wanting to express one's desire for who they are attracted to) and "Burning Up"(a musical track about having intense emotions for someone). There is also a diversity of good songs showcased from the 90's such as "Vogue" and "Ray of Light". Madonna then put out some more music in the 2000's, which gave some good songs such as "Music" and "Beautiful Stranger"(song provided for the film Austin Powers:The Spy Who Shagged Me). The best way to determine if you are going to feel good from owning the "Celebration" collection is if you enjoy any of her music from the 80's, 90's, and the 2000's (due to the fact that music from these time periods are organized throughout the two cds).

Hit and Miss,
By
This review is from: Celebration (2 CD) (Audio CD)
Unfortunately, this album (although a greatest hits compilation) is abit of a 'hit-miss' because its not a true retrospecive of her career and its also not a complete discography either.I don't understand why so many tracks, already included on her other two 'best of' albums, are included again here - surely it would have made more sense to include tracks not previously featured on The Immaculate College and GHV2, so that fans can have a definitive collection of her chart singles. I'm also amazed at how poorly her 1990's career release's are represented here, only a handful of tracks across three albums (Erotica, Bedtime Storey and Ray of Light) - why has so much track space been given to her early 80's and more recent hits? Its a true mystery too why such wonderful Madge tune's such as 'Rain', 'Nothing Really Matters', 'This Used To Be My Playground' and 'True Blue' as well as a few others, have been consistently ignored both on this and previous Hits albums. Who doesn't love Madonna though, and wouldn't appreciate a trek back through her wonderful career? Its just a shame that this collection, if encompassing songs from her previous two Greatest Hits collections, wasn't more developed and providing a fuller (if not complete!) history of her chart tracks up to her current release 'Celebration'. 3-stars - could've been better!

How on earth could Warner Bros. release a retrospective 1CD version of "Celebration" and think it was sufficent? 18 tracks for a near 30 year career, really??? WB should have released the 2CD version with a limited edition 3CD collection instead of this useless waste of time.
